You have to understand when you date a single mother you're also dating the child because child is part they come together it's a bargain deal

It's something like you want to borrow her car well guess what you're going to have to put gas in it before you can take it any place

No matter what anything that you do with her you have to have a plan for the child and she doesn't need to go out or she doesn't need to pay for somebody to come watch the child for you to take her out.
And then I hope there's not a follow-up question when I go out with my girlfriend do I make her pay for her dinner

Yes, I had a guy who paid without me asking and I told him I wouldn’t be able to go on a second date and try to Apple Pay send it back and he turned his auto receiving off and he was ok just texting and talking. If he could do that you should be able to help her a bit.

As a general rule I tend to pay for drinks or pick up the tab if we go get food on a date
But I don’t pay for ubers or gas (unless she picked me up with her car)
And most certainly don’t pay for the babysitter

You’re dating a fully functional adult who chose to date you the least she can do is cover her own logistics and not be dependent on you you

Especially considering it’s early in the relationship

If she sets the pace of you paying for everything then it will eventually become the new normal that you’re expected to provide lest you wanna be called a bad boyfriend

I think that I'll get so much hate with my answer... but let's do it anyway...

So, first thing first - why she is single mother? Did she broke up with the father of her kid? Did the father of the kid passed away?
If he passed away, then it's understandable why she is single mom.
Otherwise... I don't know a guy on this planet who would want to get separated from his kid (unless he was drug addict, drunkard or similar - but then it's pathetic with whom she slept with) - guy would only leave the kid (and mother of the kid) if the mother it's not doing things what she were doing before the kid happen (let's say not having enough sex with him anymore) or she went insane.
With that said, I would never date single mom - it's always (ok in 99% of the situations) something wrong with the mother, wrong enough for the guy to abandon his kid. Nobody can't cheat the past.

It's her son, you have no obligation to do that. She has money from potential alimony for that. How long before she asks you to start covering other expenses she should be able to manage with her son? How long before she starts asking for groceries? Bill support? Rent support?
