Do women like a cleaner house than men?

Ok. I was cleaning house this morning and my boyfriend said it looked already clean. This made me think. Do we like a cleaner house than men? Is it satisfying to both? How are they different? I enjoy cleaning house and like a clean house. What do you think?

You'd think that most women are raised to keep a house clean, but that might not be as pertinent as it used to be when many women were housewives.

I grew up in the 60s and though mom, who also worked, did the majority of housecleaning, I remember my dad would pass the mop across the floor also. He began cooking more as we got older and society appeared to appreciate men helping women with domestic tasks. But I never saw him dust anything.

I think my dad loved a clean house, but he didn't participate in cleaning it as much. He washed dishes and clothes. Occasionally mopped floors. But he was more into taking care of the car, repairing the house, mowing the yard: more typical male pursuits.

Not sure that holds true today. I taught my son to clean the toilet, wash dishes and clothes. I like mopping the floor and sweeping, so I didn't stress that much. My lapse.

But all adults KNOW you have to mop floors, dust furniture, dust the ceiling fan blades and sweep floors.

There are people who choose to ignore this. And I choose not to visit their homes.

I'm guessing more of them are men, but not sure.

It all depends whether you are perfectionist or not. You have acceptable clean (good enough for hygiene and general look) or perfect clean. But be aware, that according to the second law of thermodynamics, entropy always increases, so it will always get dirty again. Don't clean too much

In general, I say Yes. Women in general, are more picky than men, and are often perfectionists. Men, on the other hand, usually put up with something less than perfect.

Having said that, there are exceptions, but in general, that's my opinion, based on people I've known in my life.

From my observations, women tend to like a cleaner home, but I have seen some men that are obsessive about it.

I don't really think you can say men or women because each individual who owns a house they're going to have picked up the way they want to see something they're going to pick it up and that's girls and guys

I know many of each , I don't think gender matters , I have a maid , but I clean before she comes so that she can get into the " real " stuff , but I have her bcoz I like it really clean.
But there is still always something to clean and sometimes I'm lazy.
Speaking generally I'd say women are better 60 / 40 individual dependent.

Some people are only clean when in a relationship with a clean person. I hear this happens regardless of gender. Of course the definition of "clean" varies. Like some people think clean is you don't have piles of trash on the floor but everything else can be messy. Others think the entire house has to be spotless like a hospital 99% of the time.

I think it depends on the individual. My ex girlfriend was a champion slob. She used to take the laundry out of the dryer and just pile it on the bed. She would root through it when she needed something clean to wear. When the pile disappeared it was time to start the process all over again. She had a puppy that peed all over the place. She never cleaned it up. The whole apartment smelled like pee.

I can't confirm it for my own case.

I'm not a cleanliness or tidiness freak, but my native in-house female partner has made me give up on following up on a minimum European standard.

What those people consider to be ''clean'' isn't what it is to me.

There may be differences on the aggregate between genders, but it's hard to say how much of that would be hardwiring and how much may be socialized into us. I guess you could compare across cultures to see if there was a difference.

Having been to a lot of women’s homes… on this one I would say men largely tend to be the more clean and organized. At least going by the men and women I know.

I think it’s equal. I know I clean better than my girl as well as my daughter. I will also say that whenever I’ve used a female’s car, yes two completely different things, a lot of women’s cars are n dirty.
