Everything has to be 50/50 nowadays. Why? I’m a man I’m stronger and supposed to be working more than you. You’re supposed to do more of the home making.

This equal BS is why couples don’t say together more than ever.

I also hate the weak men that stick up for things like this hoping they’ll please some girls

To men and women, be yourself & project the energy you want in the relationship.

Men and women are in longer lasting marriages because they don’t just immediately sleep with people they just met, they take their time to get to know each other more before making decisions. Marriage isn’t a thing that happens at age 19 to 21, it is something that is thought about throughly & steadily. There is less societal pressure to have grandchildren for your parents, less pressure to get married, and more awareness over the issues that come with divorce / single parenting. We are at an age where we take our sweet time, we see if they are a good fit for our goals in life and see if you fit into their goals in life too.

This isn’t the caveman days where the strongest man wielding a spear against a mammoth won over the cavewoman’s heart then he brought the mammoth home for her to prepare, it is a modern day. Modern day as in men & women can express their feelings, talk about issues, drive automobiles, get a job, wash dishes, etc. and as complex beings so is the relationship. Get that video game he’s always wanted, buy her a bundle of flowers, go see a movie together then make her a romantic candlelit dinner, go shopping together, etc.

People wear insecurities on their sleeve, don’t listen to those people. Listen to what is in your heart & soul. That is the answer.

Project the energy you want in the relationship, don’t settle for less, and treat the partner the way you want to be treated. Nothing wrong with setting up dates you know they’ll love, getting a gift just because it made you think of them. Support each other, help each other, comfort each other and show love to one another in your own special kind of ways.

I'm going to answer this question specifically for dating and paying the restaurant bill...

I never liked the idea of splitting the bill 50/50. I have always preferred one person gets this one, the other person gets the next one. That's easier to do, and lets both know that a "next one" is desired.

It depends on what you mean by 50/50. If it means both partners have to do exactly the same amount of everything and earn exactly the same amount of money, it's stupid. Each partner brigs different things to a relationship, and each couple needs to find the right balance that works for them.

But in general, all this hyperfocus on 50/50 is stupid. It does more harm than good.

Look dude if you want to end up in a one sided relationship even a genuine traditional relationship is supposed to be 50/50 as both people are working equally as hard in different roles. That’s not a bad thing to want if you can afford it be VERY careful there are a lot of narcissistic women. Who want a free ride who will make you miserable.

Manual labour doesn't tend to pay all that well, so strength doesn't correlate to earnings. You might want a woman to be traditional and do more housework, but she has to want to do that else you won't get that.

Equality was demanded, and yet men are expected to behave as providers while paid the same as women for the most part. The whole reason men used to be paid more was because they were expected to provide for a family. That's not economically viable for very many men anymore, and is part of the reason relationships aren't starting until later.

As for 50/50 being why relationships fail... Maybe in some cases, but the more common reason is simple boredom and lack of dependence to keep them together. If you want to work your ass off to the tune of anything more than 60/40, you're setting yourself up to be a slave who still gets left about ten years down the line.

Just remember.. don't treat a girlfriend like a wife since it's very likely she ain't going to become your wife and even if you don't believe that she does. Keep this in mind.

The reality is that there are all sorts of problems people face in life and sometimes one person carries more weight in the relationship than the other. Sometimes things are more or less balanced, other times it’s more like 70/30, other times 30/70. Illness can make it more like 95/5. If there is real love it’s worth it even when it can’t be 50/50.
