But the fact that he said “don’t play with me”
It’s him saying “this is a topic I care about don’t put this idea in my head unless you’re serious about making it happen”


Ergo: he likes the idea of being married to you.


Now don’t expect a ring tomorrow just because of that. There could be plenty of extenuating circumstances preventing him from taking that step so soon

What was the followup? I've heard that line being used as a playful "Come on, be serious" more often than a "Don't tread on me" type of response. The former to me is just more playful banter to keep the conversation going. The latter screams insecurity.
