Expectations in a relationship?

I was wondering what are some things that men expect in a relationship that leads to marriage. I'm a bit clueless and I want to start seriously dating.

That's going to depend, partly on the kind of guy you're talking about. So lets limit things to guys dating with mariage as a hopefull end goal.

I think to be honest, you probably aren't falling short of a guys expectations even feeling clueless.

For me, the first thing is to make sure that I feel she is looking for something to turn into marriage if it works out. My major "expectation" is... that we have shared values. So honesty (as I relate that to loyalty) is the most critical thing. Someone who I feel I can trust (as completely as makes sense, given how close we are).

I keep getting thown off by the way you worded this. I don't expect anything but someone loyal, who I feel I can trust, and then you also need that "spark" that feeling. BUt I can't think of anything I would "expect" other than honesty.

I'm looking for someone with a personality that I find I enjoy. I'm not expecting her to... I don't even know..."be a good cook" or any bullshit like that. It's just about shared values and whether that woman's own values fit with yours. I am mostly interested to see if those are the same. Other than that it's chemistry.


Oh wait, I would expect she saw a relationship as two equal partners. (values thing again)

Loyalty is a must as is understanding and clear concise communication.
Self deprecating but confident in yourself are a positive strength that a sense of humour and not taking yourself too seriously.
Being physically and verbally affectionate and meaning it is important.
Kind, animal loving and friendly without being opinionated are good.
Has ideas and shares without being pushy, can be content on her own and doesn't need constant attention and isn't demanding of her way. One who doesn't play the "loyalty and attentiveness tests" that are manipulative af.

Your no different than him on the wanting... he thinks about the same things as you... and what's those somethings as bad as you do.

You just have to make sure that what he want. Is not just for one night.

- Loving, affectionate, kind and generous personality

- Unwavering loyalty

- Wants to be a mother

- Prioritizes her family above her career ambitions

- More traditional values (feminists need not apply)

- Sexually hungry and adventurous
