Guys, Is he asking to hang out as friends or more?

So I feel a bit socially ret*rded at this point in my life because a guy suggested I play piano at a festival , overlooking the lake, and he could play the harp with me. I couldn't tell if it's just a casual way to hang out or is he testing the waters?

Basically I'm not sure what his intentions are.

There is no way to know his intentions from what you wrote here. You play piano very well (evidently) and he plays the harp. So... it's not a weird way for you two to spend time together. For everybody else in the world, this is not a situation we will ever find ourselves in.

It could be romantic, overlooking the lake. OR it could just be casual.

The important point is that he wants to spend time with you. So that's the key.

You are not giving us anything which might reveal any intentions either way. But you have to look at all those unspoken signs between you two (tension, looks, all that good stuff)

I would imagine that this guy has picked up on the fact that you're interested in him. If he hasn't make sure that's not still the case by the end of the festival.

I know it's not much but conversation seems to flow well, he was definitely being friendly and making jokes. I'm usually with my sister so there's no overt flirting going on. I would like to spend time with him one on one and the festival seems good for that. Id say he knows I'm somewhat interested hopefully. Last time I was quite excited talking to him and accidentally interrupted 😅which isn't like me. Oh well

It could be both, actually.

Dating can be anything from getting to know each other over a cup of coffee to doing an activity together—like mini-golf or, in your case, playing music. This could very well be an opening for him to suggest grabbing a coffee after you've played.

OR, it could just a be a hangout to play and nothing more.

But hey, nothing is more straightforward than simply saying, "No thanks, I'm not interested," if that's how you feel.

I am definitely interested. But I don't want to be too interested in case it is just a friendly thing. I guess I'll go and see.

Or I'll ask him about it next time I sees him. If he wants to play with me we would have to practice. A good way to get to know eachother

Yeah that's the thing.. he was making more jokes this time and seemed slightly nervous. But I guess I'll just have to see him more to be able to tell.

Yes. I guess I don't want to assume anything or be too direct. But if I can get him to talk about the festival again he'll probably mention that
