Guys, Is he just looking for a friend?

I got talking to guy at a mutual friend's wedding. Previously I had met him at our friend's birthday, and also on a Zoom call last year with our mutual friend.

The first time, he was talking to me about his travelling plans, and I thought he seemed interesting, but he had a girlfriend and didn't go to the bar afters. At the wedding, he was single and on my table, but I was also with a close friend, who was in between us. When my friend went to the toilet, he showed me a pic he took of the wedding couple. I said they should set up a whatsapp group so we can send them all the pictures. He misheard me because the music was loud, and said "Yeah, sure. Give me your number." He said to text that we got back safe, and the next morning sent me a link to the film he mentioned at the wedding.

Since then, we have been talking occasionally. I don't have instagram, and he sends me lots of travel photos. He was away recently and sending me photos late at night. Once he text a really random joke, and another time told me he was making money through cryptocurrency.
I asked him if he was going to see a film that just came out, as he saw the celebrities at the premiere on his way home from work. So I said that I might go see it. He just said "yeah, me too."

Saturday night he texted me that he was at an event at a place we talked about previously, asked me how I am.

None of his texts are flirty by the way, but he is also an awkward guy and a bit nerdy, with a dry sense of humour. I don't know if he is just looking for a friend, or something more.

I've been described as an awkward guy and a bit nerdy with a dry sense of humour before as well. Not that I'm the person in question but guys like us are very respectful towards women and actually know our boundaries when around certain women that we are fond of. Dude is very considerate and won't push the agenda of making romantic advances. This is because he doesn't want to make the mistake of misreading your openness and general friendship around him as having romantic intentions towards him and this mistake burns the bridge down while he's at it.

Time is his friend and it eventually reveals what he needs to know about both your intentions regarding the relationship. He is patient and knows that if this is what it's meant to be then it develops to the next level to what you both intended for it to be. Otherwise, if it's not meant to be then he is happy that this is a vibrant platonic friendship.

Either way, he will be happy to have known you, as a respected friend or, even better, as his girl. You can be instrumental in how this plays out too. Just make sure not rush or force the idea of being romantically linked. Be patient and enjoy the moments in between. The right time will come! And I'm certain it's gonna come sooner than expected.
