Is not messaging much before a date a good or bad sign. Not used to not messaging a lot?

Thoughts on guys not messaging much before a date, this guy i’m talking to on hing has asked me out on a date on Monday. He’s booked the restaurant and the time we’re going which is a nice change for me.

Only thing is we barely talk on the app, we’ve been talking since Tuesday but barely speak, for example

5pm; he messages
6pm: ill reply when i’m home from work
5pm the next day: he replied to my message

His messages are a bit blunt as well and to the point. Whereas i’m trying to make convo a little

I’m probably self sabotaging a bit but seeing as most guys normally message a bit more before the date and I’m a bit thrown as its so different and it feels a bit stilted.

Its making me more nervous for the date

Well It's both of your responsibility to do the messaging. You wrote this as though it were up to him. Although that could be just because from your perspective, it's "a guy not messaging."

I assume you know this... but just throwing it out there just in case.

So, generally, as you already know... it's not a great sign according to the usual course of things.

That being said, he could be particularly busy, or something to explain the day-long delays. But no, it's not a great sign.

The thing is, not being able to hold a decent conversation over text, doesn't (by any means) mean you won't be able to have a comfortable chat face-to-face.

It doesn't mean you will be better face to face, but I think there's a chance it won't be like the messaging. You get to laugh, see the other person react, hear the tone of their voice, see their sense of humor, and all that good stuff.

So what happened? The guy just went straight to asking you out immediately off of hinge? I'm no dating app pro... but I've talked to enough women who are to know... that's unusual...(isn't it?)

Before a first date? Just set up the date, and confirm it on the day. Texting before meeting is a waste of time.

I have messaging disabled on my phone. If someone can't even communicate like a civilized human-being, I have no use for them as a friend or otherwise.

How do you expect people to communicate if you have messaging disabled? What if they aren't able to call or prefer texting

I'm terrible at talking to people unless they reach out, but if I planned a date with someone I'd definitely still be interested in them.

It really depends on the person. I've texted women for two weeks and they still didn't feel comfortable meeting. I've also exchanged 3 sentences with a woman and she wanted to meet for a date.
