Do people regret not appreciating people that loved them?

Someone said that people regret when they didn’t appreciate person who loved them when they got older, cause it’s hard to find person that will truly like you. Is it true for men? I liked guy really hard but he didn’t like me back and we stopped talking. It is actually happened to me kinda often when someone didn’t like me back😅 but I don’t think men kinda regret about things like that🤔 it feels like it much easier to find someone for men than for women that is why they don’t think much, or I’m wrong? And men probably only regret about women that they liked but couldn’t stay together but don’t regret about letting go women who loved them🤔 I think women can regret about it more cause men should love you more🤔 or I’m wrong?

Hello. I am sorry you really liked a guy who didn't feel the same way. It is a particular kind of painful. I know it doesn't help with how you feel, but it's important to know, it's normal. Again, that does not mean it isn't incredably painful. It means that its a pain almost all of us experience acutely at some stage of life.

I am very sure about everything I'm telling you. Yo've got some things wrong. I think that you'll be better for me pointing it out.

Fundamentally men and women don't feel differently about this. There are fewer differences than you might think. I promise, I do know what I'm talking about.

- You are WRONG about this. Completely and totally wrong. It is equally hard. It is hard for most people to find somebody that's right. Guys struggle too. Take a look around GAG.

So if a guy does have regrets about not appreciating a girl it is almost certainly will be a relationship he wishes he would have done differently. That's because its the memory of shared memories. It's not the same "what if" that it would have to be, for a guy to think "gee, I sure wish I had gotten together with that girl who I didn't love back"...

Because you were never together, and didn't have all the memories of times together, then you are right:

It's not a guy thing. It's a people thing. Everyone.

This is WRONG. Totally wrong. Once again, there is zero difference in how much a man loves a woman; compared to how a woman loves a man. It's the same. Exact same feelings.

So basically, I'm afraid that the guy you like so much won't ever regret not having a chance with you.

What happens is:

You feel awful and it's terrible and you won't like it.

Then, for whatever reason (geography, life changes, random chance etc could be anything)

You will find someone who you care about who is really the right person for you. And they will feel the same way about you. And you will feel everything you're denied with the guy you want and can't have.

There is no easy solution. You will get through this. You will feel differently about this one day. I can't tell you when. But you will. Until then, hang in there.

Well, you did raise some really interesting points about the differences between how men and women might experience regret when it comes to relationships. I can definitely see where you're coming from.

In my experience, I think there's some truth to the idea that guys may not always appreciate or fully value the people who love them, especially when they're younger. We can sometimes be a bit oblivious or take that attention for granted. And you're probably right that it's often easier for us to find new romantic prospects, so we may not feel the same level of regret.

But I also think a lot of it comes down to the individual. Some guys are definitely more sentimental and reflective than others. And as we get older and gain more life experience, I do believe many men can come to regret the people they took for granted or pushed away when they were younger.

At the same time, I don't think it's fair to say that women necessarily regret it more. We all handle relationships and lost connections differently. Some women may be more likely to dwell on it, but others might be more resilient and able to move on. It really depends on the person.

The most important thing is to try not to be too hard on yourself. If someone didn't reciprocate your feelings, that's not a reflection on your worth. There's someone out there who will appreciate you fully. In the meantime, focus on surrounding yourself with people who make you feel valued. That's the best way to avoid those regrets down the line, regardless of gender.

Yes, very personal case here : My ex never appreciated me, he left me hanging , he never treated me good, I was still there trying to change things until I just had enough and fell out of love and left that relationship that just started to become more toxic each day.
After I left, that's when it hit him and started to act crazy wanting me back at any cost, but yep, too late, I was not in love anymore... SO YES they will regret but when it's too late.

I don't look at it as a regret I look at it as a learning experience I have meant girls that I have liked. To learn they have a boy friend . And I have dated girls that our timing was off but I don't regret any of it.

Love isn't permanent, regret isn't permanent either. Maybe such person thinks a minute or two about how their life would look like if they didn't dump one or another partner. However you can't buy anything with this 10 second regret it's trivial like snow from last year. It's just your ego that craves for satisfaction and want your exes suffer, forget it and focus on your goal and ambitions.

I'm always going to regret letting my ex go. Japanese girl, I was young, but I think I was afraid of marriage. I just let her go even though she wanted to be with me so bad. There is a huge story behind it and I will tell it, but only if anyone shows interest in hearing one of my life stories.
