I'm not a strong believer in it anymore but I think it's a fun way to get to know someone better. Like I just started discussing birthdays with the guy I went on a date with last night which helped me get to know him a bit better. He's a Taurus. Loyal to a fault. And doesn't like change. Believes in stability like I do.

In just that little bit, I found that we are actually quite compatible. I already knew that Capricorns are extremely compatible with Taurus but I just wanted him to describe what he knew about his sign to see if he aligned well with me. And he did it without me asking him.

So *fingers crossed* that this is a good match.

But anyhoo why don't you believe in or like zodiac signs?

Well, as a kid, I "discovered" astronomy before astrology, so by the time I looked at astrology, it made no sense to me that planets could be related to people's personality. After receiving explanations on how astral bodies work, it just wasn't possible for me to give credit to something as esoteric as astrology.

Later in time, I learned ancient history and the first bits of anthropology, which showed me why our ancestors could believe in the stars, why and how looking at the world in a spiritual or mystical way seemed... Logical, in those times. Because stars provided explanations and deeper meanings to a world that, otherwise, made no sense or was frighteningly intricate.

Imagine looking at seasons passing, thunderstorms, volcanic eruptions, imagine not understanding one bit of the phenomena. How to remain peacefully seated and treat these events as something normal, it's impossible, right? And if it is impossible then the next step is to find a meaning, any meaning to these events. That's where our imagination comes into play. That's where we fill in the blanks, to stop being, psychologically, at the mercy of our environment, of nature. That's how, logically, nature becomes mystical to us.

As such, it makes a lot of sense to me to want our lives to be determined by stars or any mystical entity and higher beings. Ironically though, because it makes sense to me to WANT to be determined and get an explanation at all costs then it automatically makes us suspect. Suspected to carry a craving so intense that it has to make us going into imagination when we don't have the tools to examine reality. Imagination becomes the logical tool of choice to look at the universe and what we are in a world way too vast for us.

On a less serious note, yes, I also find astrology funny to discuss, especially when I don't incarnate at all the personality type expected from my zodiac sign. It made us laugh, genuinely, more than once 😌
