Dating scams are becoming increasingly common, and scammers use clever tactics to manipulate victims.

I’ve avoided most “scams” by getting to truly know the person before agreeing to a first date. That way im not wasting my time. For example, with my current partner of 4 years, we talked through messages everyday for 5 weeks before agreeing to a first date. I got to know a lot about him in that time and it reassured me that a date will be worthwhile.
I also don’t do anything on a first date that would require money, like going out to dinner for example. It’s bad enough to waste time when the date doesn’t go well, but even worse to waste money on top of that.
