Online Dating - Love Scam?

Hi,

on a Dating App someone wrote me.

He is retired and lives in the States. He says He will buy us a big house in Germany and we never met again. He says that I am his woman and won't look at other women again. And he don't want me to be on the app again.

We have every day video chats via a Messenger with a green logo.

He moves and went around. His speech is good English. But it is strange that he says that he wants me, because we never met. We chat since this week - what is not a long time. He says I can come over. I told him that he should come over first. I don't want to buy a ticket for a flight to a man I have never seen in real life.

So he told me that he will come over in April. Retired US Soldiers can travel cheaper but have to wait to get a ticket.

This is all subject to the proviso that I have understood everything correctly

I find all this very unusual and to say you want to spend the rest of your life with a woman you've never seen is also unusual.

How do I find out what's behind it? Is it a love scam? Even though we've had a few video calls?

Ok, Chatting via video is wonderful. I hope it's not just a castle in the air. He's not pretty but I think if he's as he presents himself, he's a wonderful person and a perfect husband. I have suffered so much through abuse and it would be nice to finally find the one man with whom a future together is possible. Time will show

He was real - Unreal wishes for the future. Good hearted. Beaten by life and war and relationships. After he visited me I visited him. We were in Nola last Christmas. We broke up this year. I wish the best for him. I hope he finds a woman closer living than I do who can be the wife he needs.

Ich hoffe nicht. Ich finde einfach keinen Punkt, um anzusetzen. Natürlich halte ich das alles für ein Märchen - aber was, wenn ich falsch liege? Manche Menschen sind eben seltsam. Ich brauche nur ein Indiz, dass er nicht echt ist. Er weiß wenigstens von der Zeitverschiebung. Dass wir schon so viele Video Chats hatten ist auch eher ungewöhnlich für Scammer, oder? Eigentlich bin ich die, die Video Chats meidet wie der Teufel das Weihwasser.

Mich hatte durchaus schon der ein oder andere Scammer angeschrieben, der war aber einfacher zu identifizieren.

I think so too but I can't find a fact - the English is good and he always wants a video chat - actually I don't feel like it... I generally don't like video chats at all

Have him show you his ID card (retired US military have an ID card from the military)

Good idea. He told me that I would have an ID Card for retired too, because I will be his woman and we will marry.

His birthday is 31th March and I don't know if and what I should buy for him, if he comes in April. And when I should start to search. How much I must spend and so on - what is usual.

It all sounds very crazy. But he always writes that he so happy that I am his woman and I don't know what to think about it

Exactly. When I read about Love Scam, it says that the English spoken is usually poor and that video chat is not possible. That doesn't fit. That's why I don't know what to make of it. But he can show me his ID retired card. I'm just wondering what I'll do then. I don't know what an original ID card looks like and he could show me everything

I couldn't find anything about him on the Internet until yesterday. Now I can find a LinkedIn profile but you can only view it if you are registered there yourself. From experience, soldiers and retired people all have an account on LinkedIn. It seems to be very popular. I don't know why. I also don't know why I only found his profile there now, but sometimes the algorithm is strange
