For MONTHS, why is this man love bombing, then ghosting, then coming back after a couple days, blocking, then unblocking?

Its so weird and annoying. Him and I got so close. It was so great in the beginning, until he said that he was scared that he was falling in love. He ghosted me, then blocked me. Then unblocked me, apologizes, says he really likes me, says he wants to be with me, goes distant, then blocks again. The cycle happened again and I stopped giving him the attention I used to give him. I dont know why he did this.
