Why does this man keep coming back?

I tried to make friends with a guy and his girlfriend, because I liked them both. The girl moved; and when I contacted the guy, he told me to never contact him again. I was a bit surprised, but I honoured his wishes and left him completely alone and forgot all about both of them. Moved on with my life.

Suddenly, years later, he’s come back twice, found me on two dating sites and hit on me, knowing who I am. He keeps hitting on me and I don’t get it. He made it pretty clear that he had no desire to know me, many years ago, so why bother now? I admit I feel a bit offended.

To be clear, I’ve never hit on him or showed any signs of romantic interest that I’m aware of (I’m autistic; and sometimes struggle with social cues).

Things may have changed for him emotionally. He was in a relationship before, but that ended. On what terms did it end? Was there jealousy involved from his ex-girlfriend, that may have triggered his wish to end all contact? You will probably never know.

People change, or rather they learn to understand things better over time, get to know themselves. I wouldn't necessarily rule out any contact. It depends what your expectations are.
