I've been with the same man for almost ten years. Last Fri he said he needed some space but didn't want to break up. Is he really wanting to try?

I hate to break the news but he’s strung you alone for ten years and I would find it VERY possible (can’t say for sure) that he’s found someone else but is keeping you on the back burner in case things don’t workout. Narcissists always have a backup plan and they can string someone along for years so they have someone until they think they can find better.

I think you need to not waste your time. Break it off… “I need space” is just a excuse to not be in a relationship while also having a level of commitment that’s usually one sided.

Tough call, as stated below, I usually felt like that when I was exhausted in the relationship I was in, not necessarily, because there was someone else. However when I was much younger I might have used this as an excuse to avoid a difficult conversation.
