Recently I've had a coworker join the team. We share a lot of the same interests. A couple months ago he asked for my number but I thought it was work purposes. Later that night he texted me about an anime. We've slowly been texting more and more. Started to play games together now, share instagtam reels probably daily. We have a really fun time talking and he seems to come over to my desk to talk quite a bit. A couple weeks ago I shared a reel of some nerdy food place and he says we should go! I said we should!! Schedules have been off to be able to but he still wants to. I know work should be a no, but I'm interested. My question is... does he just want a good work friend?

Ask him out. You seem to have things that could make you compatible going on for you BUT the whole office romance thing can easily backfire with politics and others interfering in the medium term BUT don't let that stop you.

Take the lead on going to that food place you talked about. Sort the scheduling shit out, make it happen, soon. Ordinarily I would say it's up to him to nail down the plan, but since you've done nothing yet, it's on you. Also, the more time that goes by the less likely anything will happen.
