It depends why they're not ready. I'm a firm believer in the best romantic relationships begin as friends. So for example if that person is healing from a past relationship and you friend them I think that's totally fine. But that person has to be trying, has to be making strides to heal. You're not thier life preserver and they should not expect that.

That depends on what you're looking for out of the relationship. If you're just looking for someone to go to movies with or scratch a sexual itch, sure it's fine. If on the other hand, you want to hang around until they become ready to be in a romantic relationship, no, it's a bad idea. There is no guarantee that when they're ready, you will be the one they choose
