My boyfriend blew me off for the first time how do I handle it?

I asked if my boyfriend wanted to hang out the day before I went to a family party of his. He said he might have some work to do for a project he’s working on, but he’ll still let me know. I said ok and then he ended up going to a bar with one his friends that day. For background we have been dating for a year and he’s never done this before. He is a bad texter but he’s gotten better when I told him about it. I don’t know whether I should say anything or not, but it for some reason it bothered me. I also don’t want to play games because I’m too old for that stuff. If someone is mad at me I prefer them to be straightforward.

That last line is pretty ironic considering you’re mad/bothered and not being straightforward about it either. If you’re upset that he blew you off then that just is what it is and you’re free to address it. But if he’s never done this in all the time you’ve been together then I’d say it’s fair to assume he just forgot and let it go.
