I have a situationship with an avoidant and I don’t know what to do?

As i already said, i (27) have a situationship with this avoidant guy (29), i define him avoidant because he NEVER texts first, he’s just there telling me that he’s happy to hear from me, but never initiate conversation. Everyone says that he’s a bad texter, but i also asked him to text me first sometimes and he never did.

There is no one else in the picture and i know that he’s into me (other people noticed, his body language says it all, he treats me differently than the others, last month he started calling me with a really sweet and personal nickname that no one else uses…).

I also know that he’s really shy and insecure, i also have this feeling that he may be intimidated by me (people often describe me as intimidating), i must also say that i tend to be a little cold and need a lot of time to open up with someone.

I must also specify that we’re still in the early stages, like we never even kissed, last time we saw each other he just held my hands and hugged me.

But still, he never texts first and i don’t want to look like i put too much effort.

Last time i heard from him was last week (i was the first one to text) and he said that he will be in my city in the near future and wants to meet up, after that we chatted a little and the conversation died (the last text is mine), now it’s been a week and I didn’t text him and he didn’t text me.

So now I’m indecisive, should i text him? I really like him and i want to see him again and know him better, but i don’t want to lose my face doing so.

I also want to try to open up more and soften myself with him, but it’s something that should happen in a meeting, not in a text (I’m kind of a bad texter too actually).

What do you think i should do? Any opinions/advice?

I forgot to say that we live in different cities one hour away from each other!
