How have you been rejected?

If you've asked someone out and gotten turned down, how have they turned you down? Were they rude and dismissive or did they let you down easy?

Honestly for me, they were usually really nice about it and might explain why. They'd say that they were still getting over a recent break-up, they didn't think we were a good match, or other.

Happened a couple times. When I was 13 I asked out a guy I had a crush on for so long and he also had a crush on me. Got up the nerve to ask and he said he wasn't ready for a relationship, which fair enough.

Another time I met a guy on a dating app I was pretty freshly 18. We made a plan to meet up at a park and hang out for a little bit. I got to the park, waited... waited... waited... asked where he was... no response for an hour then he says he got called into work and he'll be there soon. Another half hour passed and he says he can't come stuck at work still. End of plans whatever. But This was when you could see the location of people you're friends with on Facebook, I checked his location and it said he was at his house. I left the park and just went home. Eventually told him I knew he was at home the whole time. He said he thought that i was too immature because I told him I had to check with my parents it was okay I went out (my mum worked on weekends and my dad had sailing some weekends so someone needed to watch my younger sister if they were both out)

I don't think I've ever been outright rejected, however in initial phases of getting to know anyone to suss them out as "friend material" or "boyfriend material" there's a phase of joking or discussion where you just figure out that things aren't meant to be. As I get older the delineation of things that aren't meant to be is firmer on my end bc I value my peace and quiet.

I hung out with this girl a couple times and took her out on a date and everything seemed to go great. I asked her if she wanted to go out again and she said yes. I tried to call her the next day and she did not answer, so I texted her. I asked when was the next time when she was free and had the time to go out again. She did not answer my calls or texts so I just left her alone. Then she started showing up at my friend's band shows and chatting me up while her date was sitting at the bar wondering where the fuck she was. She liked me a lot, but I don't think I met her financial requirements because she was looking to have a baby before she was too old. Plus she was really religious and I was not religious at all, and I think that had something to do with it.

Yes, but less than you might expect because i rarely cold approached. I have been rejected as “politely” as is possible, i suppose. I’ve also been rejected in unnecessarily cruel and humiliating ways.

I remember one woman was insulted that I thought she was even in my league to offer drink to. Actually mad at me.

I have been rejected before. The one that springs to memory is that i was trying to ask her out and she told me that she would , be around campus that weekend. I took that as an invitation to try and find her and we could hang out. i looked allover the place for her and i really found her by accident when i met somebody who turned out to be her cousin. Instead of hanging out she completely ignored me. I sort of got the message.

It's no biggie.
When you think about it, it is just a numbers game, the more you ask the greater your chances of success will be.
A 30% success rate of asking 3 people out is a lot less than the same 30% success rate of asking 100 people out.

I’ve had a lot of people pretend to be interested when it was very obvious that they just want to hook up.. I politely turn them down and then they get very offended like as if I was pursuing them. They sometimes go as far as trying to insult my looks, lifestyle, race, etc… I don't know if this counts as rejection?

I matched with a guy on a dating app and he asled me my socials and to send him my pic cos I had some random pictures there. Right after he viewed my pic, he deleted me everywhere and unmatched on that app lol I never texted him or asked why cos that reaction was enough explanation

Those dating apps are not the best. A few years ago, I matched with a married man pretending to be single. I found out later. We never met, and of course I was glad nothing happened. I googled his picture because of weird things on his part; could not meet after 4:30, could not meet weekends. etc. Found he was a retired history professor at a major college, and his wife was the dean of a department. Be careful.

I cold approach so I've been declined hundreds and hundreds of times. Most are polite. Some are rude. I wish them all a good rest of the day/afternoon/evening and walk away.

@BCRanger10 OK, I guess imnotbtye only one who misread the question, so here goes.
After my divorce, I was dating a very attractive woman. We had 3 dates, nice dates, and I was moving slowly, which is my style. After the 3rd date, she told me she had a 3 date rule. She didn't feel chemistry after 3 dates, so we broke up. All because I hadn't tried to create chemistry... yet. I learned not to always take it slow. A few months later, I met another attractive woman, and didn't move slow. We were married a few months later. Married 8 years now and still counting.

Everyone rejects me. I don't even need to ask them out to know I'm rejected. I can just tell by the body language.
