• He's not a 27 year old man. He's a 27 year old immature man baby with personality development problems.
• His parents failed miserably in their attempts to raise him.
• He has the social awareness and IQ of a bag of rocks.
• He has a problem with entitlement as a result of a privileged life.
• He is totally self absorbed and utterly unable to feel empathy.

A nine-year age gap between a young person who is essentially a child, is a big gap at that point in her life.

The 18 year old is still in high school or a freshman in college. The 27 year old has been working in the world for years and knows a bit about life. He's on his own and making his way.

That 18 year old is living in a dorm or at home. These two have little in common. He might call her up in 7 years when he's 34 and she's 25 and they're both bona fide adults who've been on their own for some time.

Maybe it seems predatory but that all depends on the person. Look, rejection can hurt like a bitch but someone directly expressing they’re disinterested you can respect the fact they aren’t wasting your time so you can move on. They aren’t being a coward and beating around the bush.
