Who pays for the date?

I was telling my friend when I go on a date if the guy suggests the restaurant knowing that it is expensive then he should be the one to pay for the food. I told her if I was to suggest a restaurant knowing that it is expensive then I’m not expecting him to pay the bill since I knowingly chose a restaurant that was expensive. So imma go to the date expecting to pay. Some people are like no he should pay for it I said no he shouldn’t since I chose the restaurant, or the date idea no matter what it is. What does everyone think.

Each person should pay for themselves at first so nobody feels obligated or used. Only pathetic desperate men that don't have many options think they need to pay all the time or at first and they continually get used for free meals.

Whoever asks the person to the date should pay unless you already know you're going to pay for your own. The days of expecting a man to pay for everything ended when y'all joined the workforce and decided to move like a man.

The man pays for the girl until they become established then sometimes a girl can help out because nowadays food is very expensive going to restaurants and how often are we gonna go out to eat three or four times a week
