What is the worst city for dating?

NerdWallet usually keeps up with a list of from best to worst for dating.

I can speak for my hometown of Knoxville. This is a great college and family town, but this place is terrible for post-college, young, single adults seeking to find their someone. If you didn't attend the university here or didn't find your spouse there (or find them when you were younger like in high school), it feels like an almost impossible endeavor. Church may or may not provide that opportunity.

Nationwide, we are seeing a disappearance of what they call "third places", locations where there are ample opportunities to socialize, hang out, and meet. Other than the church, the bar, or some nightclub, there are minimal places here to randomly meet and engage in long conversations if you are no longer in school. Following the pandemic, meetup groups fell off the face of the earth, although these were unconventional means of meeting people anyways. You usually resulted to meetup groups if you were socially awkward and couldn't meet people by conventional means.

The left has really fucked up society and social norms.

I am very, very fortunate to have had someone facilitate meeting my now-wife. My mom attended a friend's gathering, and the friend's friend had a niece whom she introduced me to.

All I know is the area I live in at this moment. That's the New York City metro area. I'm in Southeastern CT. And dating is incredibly easy for me here. So I can't really speak about "the worst places to date".

I'm thinking...

The smaller the population the harder it is to find someone.
The less wealthy the people are the harder it is to afford dating.
The more religious people are the more closed off they will be.
The more racist people are the more closed off they will be.
In areas like I described above there is probably less to do on dates.

So, I'm thinking smaller cities and towns in the Southeast and flyover Red States must be no fun to try and date in. Especially if you have a brain and any standards for yourself. It must actually be depressing to be stuck there trying to date and unable to leave due to economics and education.

Considering only people dating heterosexually, it will depend a lot on where one lives. In the US, there is a surplus of women in New York and Boston, and a surplus of men in Seattle and the San Francisco area, It will also depend on the people one is hoping to date. Religious believers will do better in cities where others believe as they do. Similarly for non-believers. In the US, Seattle is the least religious city, but professionals on the west coast and in New England are also largely secular.
