Freshman year in college I had a friend who was a commuter and he lived in the city. He and his girlfriend said that they knew somebody that they wanted me to meet. So on Friday night they picked me up at my dorm and we drove to a restaurant where she was going to meet us. She was already there and she was nice looking. I thought maybe this would be a good thing. While were were talking I told her that I was in Air Force ROTC and wanted to be a pilot. She was sort of a hippie and she thought that I wanted to bomb women and children. Thing just went downhill from there.
My friend thought it would be funny if he and his girlfriend left the two of us there. So they left. It took a while before we realized what had happened. She told me that she was leaving. I asked her if she would give me a ride back to my dorm. It would have been a 6 mile walk in the freezing cold and I was just wearing a jacket.
So as she was driving away I jumped on the hood of her car and grabbed onto the hood. She tried to shake me off and drove through the parking lot a few times but I had a good grip on the hood. Finally she stopped and let me in the car. We had a quiet ride back to my dorm. When we got there I thanked her for the ride. I did not ask for a second date.
I only had one blind date in my life. My older sister set it up. It was with the sister of a guy my sister knew.
The date went really well. I picked her up at her parents' house and was checked out by her brothers and father... I passed. We went for pizza and beer at a local pizza place and had a great time. We chatted so long that the restaurant asked us to leave, so they could seat other customers. We went back to her apartment, where we listened to music while making out. It turned into a very nice summer fling. About a month later, I spent the weekend with her at her place. We really enjoyed each other. But it didn't last past summer. We lived 2 hours apart, which made it difficult.
Awe, at least it was a nice experience.
It was good for both of us. She later got married and had 2 kids. I also got married and had 3 kids.
I know I was set up a couple of times but for the life of me can't remember the guys at all, save ONE who had a gold Maserati, which I thought looked ridiculous. The guy was still in love with his ex wife and sniffing around her parents' home because they were the only people he knew in this part of the world. I remember saying a prayer for him to either reconnect with her or to actually get over her at some point. It was the first and last time I ever saw him. I can't even remember his name.
I never had to do blind dating. Yet when I was a teenager my high school friends decided to set me up with this guy without my consent, the guy came all the way from his town just to see me when I saw him I just couldn't hide how unhappy I was with what they did behind my back. The fact they thought I needed some help to find a boyfriend put me off so much.

Well when I get home I'm hungry because my food is all over my clothes. And I found out I can't drive blindfolded. And she was giving wrong directions, but after hitting the park, cars having a very nice night. I asked her if we could go out tomorrow night. I don't blind date again
Terrible, always. By “always” i mean twice was enough to turn me off to blind dates permanently.
The worst part is meeting those crazy women left me wondering what about me made my friends think i would be compatible with the women they chose.
Ahhhhh! I could not agree with this more! I had a former business client that tried to hook me up with an ex gang member once that I wasn't too sure was actually "ex" anything. I worked with kids, I was at university at the time, I was looking for an actual relationship. This guy showed up as every gang cliche from the movies you can think of, and it was clear he wasn't trying to do more than ONS "with a good girl." I wanted to vomit.
I've never had good luck with them. Mostly I think blind dates are a dumb idea. (Although I'm sure some have worked out for some people.) Usually it is someone saying "you two would be the perfect couple!", even though you don't have much in common with the person. The last time someone tried to fix me up with a blind date I refused right away. From what the person described, I didn't have anything in common with the lady who she wanted to introduce me to.
I did have someone at work several years ago tell me he knew a lady who did the same things as I did with outdoor sports, etc. He gave her my phone number and he gave me hers. We texted and then met up for a hike. She and I have been friends for 11 years. It was more of an "introduction" than a blind date, and we certainly DID have things in common!
The last blind date I went on was literally in the '90s, I had a good experience. But that being said now with technology, I don't see the point of a blind date. Maybe for stubborn friends. I see the point in setting somebody up without letting them know they've been set up, but I would never agree to a blind date these days.
Answer mine if you're bored
How blind? Arranged by a friend? With someone from a dating app? I did a lot of online dating and mostly it was fun. Of course not every date turned into a relationship. There was only one woman who grossly misrepresented herself, posting a picture that must have been ten years and a hundred pounds ago.
Whatever you consider a blind date, if you've never met the person before. It's not really a blind date if you've seen their entire profile and they've written about themselves because you're primed for what you at least think or hope you're going to get.
I have absolutely no experience with blind dates but, oh, lol, am I cracking myself up thinking about it here in my small town. Arrange to meet with someone down at the local store ('Cuz that's the only place around for miles) and finally hook up in person and then it's just like, "Oh, hey Bob. It's you. How's the fishin'?" 🤣
I don’t think blind dates are that common being honest, especially nowadays , personally I’ve never been on one and wouldn’t care to as it’s just wasted time and effort if I don’t already know I’m at least vaguely interested in a woman.
Apps and speed dating have kinda replaced the blind dates even though they are still offered though professional matchmaking services.
I’ve gotten laid twice on blind dates, but both times I was the tag-along. Someone wanted to hook up my buddy (same buddy both times and same matchmaker) with a girl, but they made it a double date to be less threatening. With no pressure for me and my date, we could just have fun…and that worked for me.
I had what I thought was a great date. She said so too, and we made plans for a second. When I showed up, she wasn't there. After a half-hearted "sorry, I had to work" apology, she basically ghosted me. Her name was Nola, and she was a beautiful and brilliant biologist. I think about her now and then.
Terrible. The first thing I do when a group of women, especially married women, approach me and try to get me to hang with their group all night is have the “do not try to set me up with your single friends” conversation.
Haaa, seriously. I hate when you mention you're single, and some people take that to mean, you most definitely are looking for someone and they think they can pick them. There hasn't' been a single friend or family member or god, worse, this random lady who wanted me to meet her son, that have ever picked anyone even matching the bare minimum of 10% of my basic criteria for a decent human being.
LOL, you know it. It's almost like get 4-6 women together, give them a few drinks, and they all think they are matchmakers on a quest to "rescue" all single people.
"Hey he seems like a great guy. My friend Susan is a great person. Therefore they should meet."
No, no they should not. Your friend may be a great girlfriend to you. She may be desperate to be in a relationship. But that in no way means I'm interested in meeting her or that she would be a great romantic partner for me. The arrogance of that thought process just pisses me off. So I'm pretty brutal and direct about slamming that door shut in the first 5 minutes of a conversation.
I'm a grown man with zero problems approaching women whenever I feel like it. And I get approached by women all the time. I'll do my own choosing when I'm in the mood, thank you. You don't know anything about me. Back off Mandy Matchmaker, LOL.
My experience with blind dating is actually amazing. I go into it not really knowing what to expect, but it turned out to be a great reminder that connection can surprise you. There is something refreshing about meeting someone without all the usual buildup or assumptions — just two people talking, getting to know each other in real time. It makes me realize how much more genuine things can feel when you go in with an open mind.
One went, I won't say bad, but there was no connection or spark or good communication. The other one went well, but not in the love direction. I got a good friend out of it.
They are okay, but their guide dogs can be kind of downer and are a bit too protective sometimes when you lean in for a kiss.
Had a couple. The worst was a woman who lied about her age. I am not into older women and she was a lot older than me. I was in my mid thirties then and she was pushing fifty. I managed to decline the invite to her place later.
Never had one 🙂👌🏻
I'd rather know who I was dating - and make the choice myself to ask out
attractive people don't go o blind dates in my experience. they do it cause otherwise they can't score a date. that's my experience.
I think they used to, but now with online dating, you can see them and their pictures do the talking. It's kind of like semi-blind dating because you assume and hope they're who they are, but we all know the downside of those apps.
Not everyone in these dating sites has a picture of themselves in there so that's factually a blind Date. And if you ever date one that doesn't have a picture you know what I'm talking about xD
Never been on one. Never been that desperate.
Wouldn't. No idea if I'd be attracted physically or even be able to have a conversation.
I dated a girl for one year from a blind date.
Was awesome sex in less than a half hour meeting lasted days not one night stand some GIRLS done not a soulmate stayed on whole time had gifted MULTI DICK KIDS
Actually it was pretty good but that was quite some time ago. I've not had a blind date in a very long time.
Yeah, I agree with another poster that with basically online dating, there isn't much of a real need, per se, for blind dating anymore. You can pick your own stranger now.
Never been on one I don't like the concept of it.
Only done it once. Very attractive … but she wasn’t remotely my preference.
I have never had any luck with the few blind dates I have been set up with.
It took some getting used to with helping her cross a street, picking clothes, and her seeing eye dog
Unless you count internet dating, have never been on one.
Pretty much terrible unless they ended in fucking.
I have been on 2 blind dates very horrible. You are basing what the person looks like on what somebody tells you. But online dating is in the same boat as that there's so many catfish out there
Not very good, she was totally not my type.
Ever go on another blind date with anyone after that, or was that a one and done, no thank you.
It was one and done, no thank you.
I remember way back there was a show called blind date. It was interesting
I usually tell them I'm a good looking guy they blind to know anyway
I tried it... two words...
Fat Chicks
Bad experience. Her seeing eye dog bit me.
I couldn't see much tbh
Not many, but all terrible experiences.
Ended up getting ruffied. Not by my date.
Some were good and some were awkward
Never had a blind date
Invariably terrible.
I’m bling in 1 eye… so half of them go pretty good
I've never been on one.
Blind hookup is better. LOL
