- I have wrote on here before, back in the day. I was an asshole... Luckily I'm not that guy anymore, but it got me curious... What keeps you loyal?

My parents split up because of infidelity and I was there to experience the massive and long lasting effect of it, the cheating parents remorse, the other parents suffering. After the split I saw the cheating parent fall into a million pieces and the one who has been cheated on rebuilt itself and life so at the end of the day the victim of it was doing great.
I think the wrong you do to others will come right back at you so it is of no use if you think about it in a selfish way. You will pay the ultimate price. If you do more wrong to your partner than what they have done to you you will pay the ultimate price for it. I know some think the cheaters are the winners but it is only the first chapter of the book, they are the biggest loosers if you read on to the next chapter. Not because if they get judged, punished by others but because they are their own worst enemies, it is all the shit inside them what caused them to cheat. It's about them. The one that has been cheated on can take it very personal but it is not about them, it is not their fault. I always knew my cheating parent came from an unhappy childhood and was weaker, more doomed to fall for external appreciation if and when the communication did not work between my parents. I knew too the other non cheating parent would not ever go there as this parent came from happy childhood, stood grounded, has this rule what kind of person this parent was in a relationship or not. It is about what rule you have, the ground on which you stand.
I never understood why my ex was so jealous or current one because I knew I would never cheat on them.
I have figured out I am like the non cheating parent as my childhood too was happy, first couple of years you get that stable, ground and it stays with you for life, how you relate to yourself, how you relate to others. My cheating parent was not that fortunate and needed that fix.
My ex and my current have on a subcounscious level reminded me of the cheating parent (when that was first introduced to me I went What? What?, I'm gonna throw up now, lol).
When learning of my ex's past and current not just through their version, but the exes have a way of not staying always in the past. You are going to figure things out. With them. Others who knew them back then. It is going to happen no matter if you look for answers or not. I learned the relationships they felt safe in were the ones that were like them but they only had more of a friendly feel for them. They too would look at the flesh in a more different way than I did as single.
What has happened is that my ex feelings for me grew in a way he was not used to and felt scary in one way, longing for it in another. Causing turbulance as now he could not stand the thought of if I cheated but had his safe ex or him in the past done it it wouldn't be so bad. Same goes for my current. I have been used to stable people feeling continuesly safe, stable, as they get to know me better, but what happens when my ex and current got to know me better, they did not feel safe within themselves. Complicated lol
I just never got tempted. I am sure I'll never get tempted. I just don't get the point of cheating, if you're not happy with your partner and finding yourself drawn to others whether emotionally or physically, then just break-up (unless you're in an open relationship, in that case, it's not even considered a cheating). Ending your relationship with them is much better than hurting your partner by cheating on them, and causing them trust issues or self esteem issues.
Her trust and loyalty and love towards me , I don’t get into a relationship with a girl to continue being single , I get into a relationship , hoping she is on the same page as me. So there is no reason to cheat on someone that loves you the same , if they end up cheating on you , then they didn’t love you the same
Love
My aim on Girls Ask Guys is to share insights and support you on your relationship journey. What's the secret sauce to staying loyal? For me, it's about cherishing the connection with my wife and knowing trust is like the golden currency of relationships. That, and the fact I can't bear the thought of missing out on homemade pancakes with my daughter! Plus, the grass isn't greener on the other side; it just needs watering on this one. 🌿😊 Falling in love repeatedly with my partner is the real deal! 💖
She cheated on you.

If I’m WITH someone that’s just my person. My brain registers that and there’s just nothing else to it.
I wa married to a fellow who was basically still dating the whole time we were married… and I was pretty enough back then that gush were hitting on me all the time, but I never once entertained that thought or looked at a guy as having potential with me even if he was drop-dead gorgeous and fab personality.
Perhaps it’s bc I’ve always had a ton of guy friends. I don't know.
I still find other men attractive/good looking but otherwise am completely disinterested in anyone in that manner that isn’t my person. I don’t understand why people cheat
I try to live life by the Golden Rule. I can’t expect a partner to be loyal to me unless i am loyal to that partner.
My morals, an option that's in the poll as "Something else".
Like you said back in the day I was that asshole and I did and the girl I cheated on didn't take it well and know that it wasn't worth it but before she left she made sure I learned not to do it again and she didn't want to be the only one hurt when she left. My advice is if you are thinking of cheating you have a choice try and work it out before you do which she could still feel hurt hopefully she doesn't over react or it's better to break up instead or you may just painfully regret if she finds out. So it's not worth the consequences how you shouldn't break any ones heart.
People who cheat lack empathy. Same reason I dont molest kids I also dont cheat. I have basic human morals with empathy.
I know many will be mad at my answer but science is very clear on this.
I definitely lacked empathy, and was just a selfish dick when I was younger
Yeah makes sense.
What keeps me loyal? Loyalty in return. If you're engaged, I'm engaged. When you check out of the relationship and no longer care about my needs, I no longer feel obligated to participate in a one sided deal. I will go take care of my needs elsewhere. You don't like that? I don't care. I stopped caring when you turned a relationship into a one way street. You like being a roommate with economic benefits. OK, then live with the consequences of your choice.
I don't feel the urge. I have a fulfilling relationship and sex life with my girlfriend.
And if we at one point do want something else and open relationship or a threesome is an option. So there's also no reason to cheat. We can just communicate things like this.
Lol if I had lol an STD yet also " a moral failing of my character" - and divorce is expensive 🫰 lol 😆
I think some folks are often poor at picking what they'd think and good would hope would last the distance
Wow I'm the only person so far to actually vote. For a STD - I'm glad someone here me has health's standards 👀👀👀🙌🏻
I already had a bunch back in the day!!! It's a good reason amongst the many!
@MikeTheBartender if you had time again - would you have preferred to have "picked one and done" - to reduce chance of STD/I? Lol 😆 I mean genuinely? No wonder there's some logic to some religions and cultures who mandate sex not before marriage. But then anyone not follow that or fool around or other acts etc - so I think the real logic is "two virgins, who eventually pick after being picky, that's a result of clean" lol 😉 😆 but you know folks I mean I can say I'm a virgin happily yet how many women would claim they are but have fooled around give versa if women were looking for a clean man lol 😉😆
Nothing better than falling in love and tapping out of the game. I would have gladly done so if I met the right woman.
@MikeTheBartender in hindsight - even at the "ripe" old age of 20 or 25 - or 30 - would you have known then "here's a keeper, put the ring on this 20s lass (referring to the her) lol 😂😆 💒💍 or nah?
Nope, I was stupid and partying too much.
@MikeTheBartender lol - as a bartender - you think there is all there is or do you think there's a round 2 (a second round) pun intended - reincarnations + afterlife's? Or nope, this is it and only it lol MJ lol 🎵🎶 🌌🌌🌌🌌🚀
I mean is this life it? Or do you think this isn't it? It's a big space out there lol surely a god hides out there somewhere lol 🌌 just curious what a bartender views mortality or space lol gods + deities - hell, aliens 🙂🤞🏻
That tour would've been an iconic icon This Is It - if only MJ hadn't been on the bender lol 😂😆 no offence no allegations lol - I miss your music Michael Jackson
Most people will say because they are loyal but the reality is they lack the options they would have liked to have.
I won't cheat because of God and became a born again christian otherwise if I like the woman enough then I most likely will cheat.
Humans by nature aren't loyal regardless of what they say especially if a better option becomes available.
I don’t cheat because it goes against what I believe in and how I was raised. My faith teaches me to value honesty and integrity, even when it’s not the easiest thing to do. Growing up, I was taught that doing the right thing matters more than taking shortcuts, and that your character is defined by what you do when no one’s watching. So for me, cheating isn’t just about breaking a rule — it’s about going against the values that guide my life.
LOL We're in an open relationship. The only thing that would resemble cheating is if we kept it secret from each other, and there's absolutely no reason to ever do that. We often like to get the other's approval on our choices. It makes it more fun.
I have cheated, but not recently and I hope not to again. I feel very guilty that I have, I've been weak in the moment.
What happened?
It's happened more than once in my life, situations when I was in a relationship but I hooked up with someone else.
Same mine were all partying or at a bar. Luckily I've changed. But still sucks that I hurt those girls.
I've never had anyone find out, which was very lucky, but I still feel guilty it happened
Understandable. And I got away with it plenty of times too. Alcohol, narcissism, selfishness, bartending, and living in a city with a high party life not a good combo.
I don't have any interest in cheating. If I wanted wild sex with a lot of guys I would be single, and I have done that when I was single.
You can have wild sex with your lover too :)
Because I have self-respect, sleeping with other people while in a relationship is slut behavior.
@MikeTheBartender work as sex worker, to some it comes as cheating
If he knows your job I would disagree
@MikeTheBartender
yes he knows.
but to people in US they think it as cheating hehe
I worked in the nightlife industry a long time, pretty common, but I understand where you are coming from. Thanks for chiming in :)
I'm not a piece of shit, at least not in that way. I respect and love them, I'm not going to betray them.
Mostly I would never want to hurt my wife. But I also would find it hard to live with and I would be afraid of getting caught.
Generally-respect. If you’re in a relationship of any kind then keep your pecker in your pants if you’re a bloke and keep the garden gate closed if you’re a lady
The top two
Glad you don’t cheat anymore
i don't have to cheat cause i can break up if i wanna fuck someone else so badly.
Option a and b, plus cheating is a sin!
Why would i marry a woman if i'm going to cheat on her!
I'm single, and never been in a relationship, but...
If I had a girlfriend, I would never cheat on her, I would never hurt her.
Well first I'm single, so it makes it harder to cheat. And second I'm not a piece of shit.
Quite honestly, I'm a sex addict, and I need to maintain my sobriety if I can. Most of the time, it's really a struggle.
I love her. 💖
A combination of A and B.
I wouldn't be able to live with this lie.
Love, honour, children, shame.
Lack of a significant other.
I'm not retarded trash
I respect her and our relationship
Lol.
