Does my boyfriend and my best friend have a thing for each other? and are they crossing boundaries or am I reading into it?

I’m in a long-distance relationship. I live in one city, and my boyfriend lives in another country. My best friend Mia didn’t really know him before. I met him in Roma, and later when he came to visit me for the first time (not together yet) I got really busy with work. Since I couldn’t spend much time with him, he ended up hanging out with Mia.

Ever since, their friendship has made me uneasy. He often ask me how she is, especially when drunk. One time, the three of us were out together. Mia was talking about feeling sad about love, and he started hyping her up, calling her pretty and amazing. Then he leaned in and kissed her bare shoulder, looked shocked, but after that, he asked me if he could kiss her on the cheek. He says he don't remember it.

He often compliments her, saying things like, “She has amazing eyes,” or, “I don’t get how she’s single.” He insists he doesn’t have a crush on her, but whenever I mention that we’ll be seeing her, he lights up and gets excited. At parties, they always end up gravitating toward each other, exchanging looks, joking, and touching. She is really beautiful, funny and takes the room when she entres it, so i understand it.

At a recent party, they were constanly looking at eachother, and when I left the room, he moved to sit next to her. Later, she drunkenly said she wanted to share a wine with him instead of me. She often tells me that she dosent like him, but she also says she looks forward to dance with him, and often invites him to things and take pictures of them together.

Recently the three of us went out for lunch. When she arrived he got so much energy, hugged her, and asked about everything she’d done the day before. I honestly felt like I was third-wheeling their friendship, they laughed nonstop, kept touching each other’s arms, and he even asked her, “When was the last time you had sex?” It felt weird having my boyfriend ask my best friend about that, but he has done it before and are really into her love life.
