People have misused them and sent them to friends who you'll never know. Might appear later on if a search is done via someone planning to hire you. You don't want such stuff following you around. Be cautious.

There isn't any zero risk situation I can see, plus I don't see any objective, ultimate way to trust someone, I have trusted people based on subjective things, on observations, on feelings, on experience... I see trust somewhat as how some believers describe faith, without evidence or guarantee, just a feeling, a belief in something.

To me, meeting in person or not does not add to trust I have (or not) in someone, what I look at is how people react, write, talk, manifest, how emotionally stable they are over time. If I had to name one predictor, it would be that: Emotional stability. Which does take some time, technically, to observe...
