When having a tour of a factory, your attention is grabbed by a loud yet unimaginative gentleman exercising his freedom of speech. Due to time constraints, you haven't time to discuss the matter and decide a simple hand gesture to express your displeasure at his comments will have to suffice.

A flippant wave of the hand is dismissive. Drumpf engaged with his hand gesture.
I use the flippant wave quite often. I don’t engage with hand gestures. If there isn’t an opportunity to use words, then there’s no point in escalating through ignorant sign language. Sometimes i use the dismissive wave when there is opportunity for dialogue, but i know there’s no point because my intended target is too ignorant to waste the time and energy on.
