He Says He Loves Me, But He Wants to Date Other Women Before relationship. What do you think?

Hello.

I recently met a man and we quickly became very close. We were strongly attracted to each other, and after only two weeks, we started living together. Everything moved fast, but it felt natural at the time.

We both had feelings, but we agreed not to become physically intimate until we officially started a relationship. He said we needed more time to truly get to know each other before committing.

When he said that, I felt happy and relieved. I thought he wasn’t just another player.

However, a few days later, we became physically involved. The next morning, I asked where our relationship stands. He said he sees me as someone he could date seriously and even marry someday, but he still needs more time before committing.

I told him I understand needing time. I’m not asking for immediate commitment. But if we are going to continue seeing each other, I need him to promise that he won’t see other women during this time.

He said he can’t promise that. He explained that if he focuses only on me, he might fall deeper in love, and if we later break up, it would hurt him too much. That scares him.

Even though we are not official, he still wants to continue being physically close.

That made me question everything. I regretted moving too fast and told him we should stop seeing each other. I asked him to leave.

Since then, he keeps coming back with flowers and letters, saying he truly loves me and wants a future with me.

The problem is that my heart wavers. I do like him, but I don’t think this is love yet. We’ve known each other for less than two months.

I’m not trying to use intimacy as leverage. But after crossing that emotional and physical boundary, it hurts that he cannot promise exclusivity.

He says in Western culture it’s normal to date multiple people before committing. Maybe that’s true. But if he truly loves me, why is exclusivity so difficult for him?

Am I asking for too much?
