Its no longer considered socially acceptable to approach women in real life. We just assume that she will find it annoying and isn't interested so we don't. Or we assume we have nothing in common with her anyway and on your profile we find out we do.

Its just a societal trend with all that "EWW GROSS HOW DARE YOU APPROACH ME YOU CREEP!" stuff going around that can get guys in trouble, so they don't bother and go with the places where they know girls actually want to be approached.
