Is it a red flag if your partner doesn't want to sleep in the same bed as you?

I never had that problem with girlfriends. And my wife and I sleep together in our king size bed. It's nice to have sex without having to make an appointment. It's nice to cuddle before we go to sleep. And I love knowing that she is next to me. My bed feels empty without her.

We don't have any dogs and none of my girlfriends had a dog that wanted to share the bed. We do have three cats and one or two of them sometimes sleep on our bed, but they don't crowd us and we like having them there.

I think it would be a real drag to sleep in separate beds. It reminds me of aristocrats in days of old who had separate rooms for husband and wife and performed conjugal duties on a certain day or the week or month. Or like old TV sit-coms where the husband and wife had separate beds. Actually, my mom and dad had a bedroom arrangement like that. I can't even imagine.

The only reasons for separate beds or rooms that I can think of is if one person had sleep apnea and snored or used a CPAP machine, or if they tossed and turned violently, or if they were incontinent, or if they had a big dog that they preferred sleeping with.

Either way, I would be very unhappy if I couldn't sleep with my wife. And it would be a huge red flag for a girlfriend.

My parents slept in separate beds for as long as I can remember but they were in the same bedroom. I guess my dad got tired of my mom always waking him up from constantly moving around and she didn't like the fan blowing on her. I guess my question is, did he give you a reason?

I guess some people may be more comfortable sleeping separately if they keep each other awake or snore etc. But I would certainly hope they get together often for some sex in the same bed. Is this happening to you?

Not necessarily. I would definitely like sleep next to her sometimes, but I wouldn't mind having my own space. I've always slept by myself and have insomnia, so it wouldn't be the worst thing to me.
