Was my ex playfully teasing me, or trying to put me down?

Last night I was texting my ex. I asked him what his type was, and he said “bad bitches.” I jokingly replied saying “I am bad” and sent him a selfie of me.

His response was literally: “ I threw up”

I’m confused because I genuinely can’t tell if he was joking/sarcastic or if he was trying to insult me. I feel like it was a pretty rude thing to say after I sent a picture.

How would you interpret this? Does it sound like playful teasing, or does it come across as him trying to put me down?

It feels unlikely to me that you need to ask your ex what his type is, or send him a picture of yourself to prove you're his type... since he's already your ex and you should know all this stuff already...
