Does my husband really mean it when he calls me beautiful?

Question

He keeps telling me that I'm beautiful and he's done this for years. From when we're dating and engaged and now married for almost 2 years. No matter when I ask him what makes him think I'm beautiful I never get a real answer. The most I get is "you just are" or "you're just beautiful I don't know" It's honestly started to feel like it's fake coming from him because there's never a reason or followup. It feels like he think he has to say it.

When things like this are reoccurring, I feel like it’s a sign to look inward. Maybe there’s some areas of your relationship (or at least one) that is lacking, otherwise you wouldn’t be asking him to expand on a compliment when it’s made. It’s coming off like you “need” the breakdown, and if so then why is that? Are you not feeling beautiful anymore like in general? Is he giving you less attention? Are you growing apart? Get to the bottom of why you need more.

When my fiancé calls me beautiful, I’ve never once thought to ask him to explain it, or what about me is beautiful to him. But that is most likely because the relationship is fulfilling in general and he gives me so much love. I also know he’s not great with words, like getting into the whole “you’re eyes are bright and sparkling, your smile always gets me, I love your dimples, etc etc”, I don’t need a sonnet to accept the compliment and go. However I may desire that if otherwise I didn’t feel like he uplifted me or showed me proper love.

he knows you are fishing to hear it. just remember him saying it after the wedding. repeat that memory and stop asking how you look.
