It depends on the person. A player who has a ton of "friends" (aka former hookups) is not the same as a person who happens to work with a lot of people in the opposite gender (e. g., a female engineer) where the group of co-workers are friends but not past lovers or hookups.

I don't think one is relevant to the other. Your question implies the saying that women and men cannot be friends. And i think that's hogwash. All it takes is having respect for people and their worth. Now does that guarantee they will with you? No. But that's life. This is why you pay attention, so you understand the character of the people you keep in your life. And never let someone else determine YOUR value. Another person does not decide that. You and the way you conduct yourself does.
