In the US, the average lifespan is 81.4 years for women and 76.5 years for men. These numbers are all-time highs, This increase is due to a decrease in deaths by drug overdose and covid. However, for Americans who have reached age 65, the life expectancy is 83.4 years for men and 85.8 for women. And an American male aged 71 (me) has a total life expectancy of 85.0 years.
On average it's certainly true..
But individual circumstances can be very different..
Driven predominantly by Stress a giant killer , and weight , everybody needs to have BMI and stress under control for longevity , including consistent exercise.
Males particularly in the West are prone to these issues , and you are a long time dead.
Women might live longer than men because they are the dominant childcare workers in the family and their social role makes their life less isolating. I believe the more impersonal your life feels, the higher your risk for premature death.
I think on average we do, but it’s not true for every person
