I live in a major city and feel incredibly isolated and lonely. Its hard to meet people and even way harder to make friends. I lived this way for many years believing that it was only me that has few to no friends. But I have found out through coworkers and a couple of other acquaintances that 75% of them don't have any real friends either. And they seem fine. Said they aren't lonely. I'm just wondering... how do people live their lives in complete isolation and still stay mentally healthy? They just go to work then come home. Never do anything exciting on weekends because they don't have anyone to do these things with.

They probably are, but you get used to it. A lot of things you can do individually. I fell into that kind of life when I went to college, even though I did many things to avoid such a fate. When COVID happened, my life was barely effected. I wouldn't say I'm mentally healthy, but I'm not beyond repair. I'm a natural introvert, so I'm mostly okay being by myself. In case you wondering, I've never been a danger to myself or others.
They may still have people to talk to via text or phone, or they have a pet. Maybe they talk online or just have enough hobbies to keep themselves busy and keep their mind occupied. Being physically alone doesn’t automatically make you lonely.
1 phone call every 3-5 days is nothing
It's learned behavior for men. Women can f***. So she always got a willing to push up on her. Men know most people do not give a 💩. So guys learn to find enjoyment in solitude.
I know the feeling as I live alone I like to find online friends to chat with.
They like people but at distance not permanent.
