It would certainly show a nice gesture and thoughtfulness, if you were to suggest meeting her somewhere near her neighbourhood, if only to make her feel a little more safe.
Okay the problem is we live in NYC. If you know NYC there are 5 boroughs. I live in Brooklyn and she lives in Manhattan. We are probably an hour and an half apart.
Unfortunately I know absolutely nothing at all about NYC, and probably even less about the USA... Sorry.

Not weird at all... However due to the distance and time involved, I suggest you have a long meaningful discussion and hopefully come to some mutual arrangement that works for the both of you.
