Unless it’s a girl I know very well like the girl I’m currently seeing/pursing since I’ve known her for about 30 years, I don’t see the point of splurging on a date with a girl I barely know. What would be an acceptable first date with a girl you barely know? What would be acceptable to women?

Coffee or tea. That will give you a chance to have a conversation in person. It also helps weed out foodies. My rule is first two meetups like that. If she is still interested, then I know it is in me not free meals and on the third we'll go someplace nice.
Yeah. Makes sense as long as she understands it’s a date and not just a friendly get together lol.
Doing something that you have to talk
Definitely my preference too, but I'm not opposed to seeing a movie if it's somethin both of us have been looking forward to for a long time lol.
