I dated a woman who thought refinancing our home and consolidating our short term loans into a higher interest rate mortgage was going to save us money. I even went so far as to humor her and let the lender tell her she was crazy. She couldn't be convinced otherwise. I immediately closed our joint account and completely separated our finances.
