When I started reading this I didn't know what STEM was and assumed it was a sex thing.. Now I feel stupid and confused.

Again, how about the Gender Divide in Nursing?

Should we be concerned there are not enough men in nusing?

People like jobs and subjects for their own personal reasons. We should stop forcing people to do jobs they don't want to do

Instead having higher % of male in nursing does not having economic implications of a country than higher % of females in STEM. Counties with higher % of female in STEM tend to do better scientifically/industrially and therefor economically. When you tap into the other 50% of the population, it significantly increases your talent pool.

@Energiya you mean by forcing them?

@Energiya That is a good point. However if the SJW want to correct the imbalance in male dominated professions then each profession should match the natural sex balance. Which would make women the dominant workforce member

      @Gouthamfab

Why do you automatically make that conclusion?

Forcing anyone into something is a recipe for disaster. If i had a daughter, I would encourage her to peruse science just the same way as i would to a son. If they don't then that's their choice.

Men tended to naturally cling to thing's that develop their spatial intelligence/logical reasoning and physical confidence. Women cling to things that develop emotional intelligence and verbal skills more in comparison. And that's probably why male children are encouraged to play with hard toys and female children get the really dumbed down sh*t.

Perhaps it's human evolution. Our bodies where optimised for different tasks. Worked well when we were cavemen. But we have moved on quite a bit from that. So one has to ask what's the best strategy for the future.

There is a huge crusade in almost all developed countries to push more people into STEM regardless of gender. And no one (at least serious) is proposing to enforce it

@Energiya thats exactly whatbo am saying. Leave it to the individuals. Current climate is toxic. If women dont chose stem they are frowned upon. Now thats alarming

Women generally don't get into STEM because women (GENERALLY) are more driven by humanities (people) and things.

You can't really force women to want to work in STEM.

For the last time nobody is trying to force women to work in STEM.

But a lot of girls aren't introduced to these subjects, moreover the importance of these subjects. If they were, or at least had a go at it they may be good at it. And if it isn't for them then by all means they can do what they feel is best for them.

I'm not saying anybody is forcing women to work in STEM. I'm saying that you can't force someone to change what they want.

It's not our problem what girls are afraid to do. Boys shouldn't do anything they do not want to do. Nothing is stopping you from doing STEM other than yourself. Sorry.

Nothing should discourage anyone from doing what someone is interested in.

I am not for a single second saying "force women to do STEM".

I'm saying I think the subjects should be introduced to more girls from a young age. Girls only don't want to participate in the subject because it's not what they've grown up with.

Which subjects do you have in mind? Have you asked yourself why men dominating the STEM fields and why women are dominating medicine?
