"Do you think that the internet and telivision will eventually make books obsolete upto some extent?"
For some things, yes, for others, no. For example, hardcover books--such as novels and comic books--still have a place in a mostly-digital era because their contents do not change. Newspaper, however, is going out of style, because the content is changing faster than publishers can print papers; therefore, it is a perfect candidate for digital distribution.
The downside is that digital distribution is only as permanent as the servers and computer monitors used to store and display it. If every server and device with access to the Internet suddenly stopped being able to access the requisite data or to store it, it would deprecate itself. The other negative about digital distribution is how easy it is to "erase" or "revise" without the public ever knowing. Facts are only objective, insofar as we can determine their veracity by substantiation and exhaustion of alternative possibilities, so if this ability suddenly disappeared, it would be considerably more challenging to decipher fact from fiction.
Now, you could say that the Internet and television age is making us less focused as a species, because our attention more readily wanders, due to an overabundance of information and very few tools to accurately and effectively filter through it, but that's another matter entirely.

No. The news have been announcing the death of books for some time now. Nope. Books are still selling. Physical books might have seen a slight decline, but that's just because people now have a choice between paper and digital. Books are not dead, and they're not going to die. Publishers may face some issues, like the big one of how 20% of the books that do well are supporting 80% of all the others that don't, but that's been the case even before the advent of e-books.
As someone who works in books and publishing, I'm always happy when I see people still making trips to the bookstore. Many people still enjoy holding a physical book in their hands - and I don't see that going away any time soon.
It's harder now than ever before to go to the store and find a decent selection of books to read. I prefer a physical book to hold and read as opposed to reading from any type of e device. Stores aren't selling as many books and more and more often I find that I have to read e books or have nothing of any entertainment value to read. This especially has an effect on small towns like mine because there's not much demand for books considering so few people read books any more. Actually, there's not a large percentage that read anything other than posts online. Sigh 😞
No because there is a whole world of people who cannot get enough of ebooks. They may not be hard copies but they still sell.
Actual hard copies? They will die down. But they won’t ever disappear as long as magazines are still selling.
The day when magazines are no more will be the day books officially die. No hope.

No, because those are both already obsolete; but we leave them intact because their value isn't merely in the mediums themselves, but because of their capacity to ingrain formatting logics into biology through habituation. (Not too dissimilar to why humans are still around) XD
It takes up less space to use electronics so I scanned in a lot of books and saved them... but guest what? 2 kindled, 2 notebooks and 1 laptop crashed and it made me wish I had not let so many books go. I don't like watching tv I can live without it in my home.
I don't think so as long as the science and the record keeping are a thing. The internet is the RAW and most un-reliable source to be used in scientific research.
Everybody can search the NCBI but only minute will even have any idea what's its even about in the first place but where book simplifies things and give us very important basic core concept and give us maximum information in minimum words possible.Yes because books are a physical media. Just like how CDs have been mostly replaced by information, so will books. And TV, well that'll be made obsolete by far better services like Netflix that give the shows you actually want to watch at any time. Turn on the TV at any point and most of it is complete shit. I can tune into netflix any time and watch basically anything whenever I want.
Paper books, maybe, but books will always be a thing, even if they're all e-books.
Personally, I hope not. I really like the look, feel, and even the smell of books. Reading an actual book is about more than just reading for many readers, I think. And you never have to plug a book in and let it charge before you can read it s'more!Nope, because a lot of people still find comfort and trust in something tangible like holding a book or written paper, than something that can be erased easily in a blink of an eye.
I don't think the written word is going to go away any time soon, but I think books as a medium for written text is already obsolete. It's a shame, too, because I prefer them to electronic media.
No effin way. Some of the best stories can only be told in written form. You know why fans of the book always complain that the book was better than the film adaptation? Because nothing tops the movie we have in our head as we read the book.
I think the media-tv and libs will bring about book burning first starting with the history books.
Many people prefer reading books over any other thing.
Yes, with the internet and television, reading books as a leisure activity has decreased, but it still is a choice of manyI think it already has to some extent. Hopefully it goes no further.
No I highly doubt it. There are some people that love to read. I'm not one of them lol, but both my parents read all the time.
No. Books have been around for centuries. Things have come and go but books are here to stay.
Books have no battery and the only thing that could screw up a book is a bad owner and a rainy day but that can also be with an electronic so I’d say solely on the fact that a book doesn’t run out of battery that books might never become obsolete unless we find a unlimited amount of energy to power all our devices but we are a bit far from that
Sadly yes~ I hate reading stuff on devices and would much rather have the book in my hands :(
This has already started. And frankly, I now prefer to get e-books that can be stored easily in a hard drive because my books take too much space right now. I can make an exception for comics though.
Depends on the area
Economics condition
Culture of the people
Preference of the people
Medical condition of the peopleNo. But Internet and TV will be obsolete eventually - and replaced by something else.
I believe the damage to book sales has already happened from the internet I don't believe it will do further.
Does anyone read anyways? I mean I feel like people don’t do that anymore. I love to read. So I hope not
