1) "Fairness" has nothing to do with it, it's simply money flow, and 2) this guy is an *exception*-- the overwhelming majority of "gamers" and "Youtubers" are not commanding sums of money even CLOSE to this. Oh, and it's an industry that is fickle as fuck, whereas actually having a job isn't. So...
In a capitalist society, it is about your monetary value, not who morally deserves more. I agree doctors, teachers and police deserve more but doesn't mean it is unfair. I personally beleive politicians are not paid enough and for that reason, we have the rubbish and low grade people we have to choose from. The smartest, most productive people are naturally going to lead towards private enterprise, as that gives them the best opportunities to make the most of their life.
Doctors also could not give a fuck about their patients and overcharge them and double schedule patients and make them wait hours in the waiting room just to see them for 15 mins at a time. I love capitalism and if somebody can make that money on Youtube good for them more ways to make money in a struggling economy.

I really doubt an average gamer or YouTuber makes more money than doctors and engineers. What you mentioned in the description is the prize money in a competition. The winner has to be better than several others to win it, it's not their regular income. It's a one time win like a lottery, just one that's not randomly picked.
It's not about how fair it is, it's about how much money they are bringing in, im sure when these gamers and YouTubers first started they didn't make a penny but as the harder they work and the more successful they are, the more money they get
While that kid won 3 million, the ones who sponsored the tournament won much, much more. The video game industry is monstrous. Everything is a business these days. I can understand your point of view but if you review the history of humanity you will understand that we value a lot of things, less the most important. We are addicted to money and entertainment, not to self-realization, that's why the planet is dying.
Life isn't fair. You can't just single out video games even one as lame as fortnite. Anyone can go out and come up with the next big idea or take a heavy risk and reap the benefits of it. Look all around you human greed is everywhere. Everytime you go into a small business on the shop owner complains about Walmart soaking up all the business with their Shady business practices and yet most cases that owner of that shop is underpaying their own staff in order to make an extra dollar.
Here's the thing. There's so many youtubers and gamers out there now that making money like that is actually much more difficult than you think. That boy just got lucky. I've had friends, and have tried myself, who wanted to monetize on Youtube. I never got anything, and my friends barely broke $20 a month. However, doctors and the like, they're more or less guaranteed money with their jobs (as long as they do them right and do them well, of course).
Someone decided they would host some kind of gaming event that would be watched by many people and produce a profit. The prize was 3 million dollars and the winner was a 16 year old kid. Some one gave away their money which is their right to do so. Every one who is against this is either jealous or a communist.
Well the kid that won Fortnite to be fair that was a competition so he wouldn't earn that every month. Was it not also split between himself and another? But I do know what you mean. I find the same when you think about people who drive in F1 or footballers/ tennis players. Police officers and fire fighters don't get that for having a high risk job.
Our society values entertainment more, because the good health and long life expectancy is taken for granted as well as technology. The only threat that we have to face is boredom. If you consider the lack of required intelligence and mental strength to live a life, boredom is really threatening in todays society.
Lol, seriously? YouTubers work hard and it's a demanding job. Gamers on the other hand, yea it takes training to get that good but it's a game getting paid that much is just as stupid as other sports players getting paid that much to run around a court/field for peoples amusement
it’s the same as athletes and people in the entertainment industry. they work their butts off. it may look easy but trust me. it’s not at all. so yeah i think they deserve the money they’re paid.
Only a small percentage earn emough to make a living, let alone a fortune. For the vast majority of youtubers and gamers, it's a hobby and more likely to cost then money than to win it.
Do you think it's fair that the fools in suit and ties get to abuse the poor and live better? It's not about fairness. It's about taking initiative. We gamers work to get to where we are. As a content creator. I work to gain what I have with an incredible support of the viewers. They brand us. We wouldn't be here without them. We want something. Take it.
Without those "fools in suit and ties" you would never make a penny. YouTube would have folded long ago and twitch wouldn't have had the money to continue. You do understand that economies are built through the various jobs supporting each other to make money change hands, right?
Yes I make money from them and I don't like it. But it's how it is now. Has to be accepted. Nothing is fair. Hence why the initative of taking it. Want it. Take it.
Then quit making money. It really is simple. They have money to pay you because they sell a product. You advertise that product for them so they can sell more products.
Its not about fairness its about how much money people can make off of it
Gamers can earn those big numbers just like athletes because of how many people watch it. The more spectators the bigger sponsors because of commercials and product placements
I don’t but there’s a reason they get paid so much more. Like actors for example, we pay to watch movies, so they get a cut from that overall. Doctors don’t perform surgeries in front of a live studio audience. We can’t pay to watch them, unless you get hurt of course. So they don’t get as much money.
Fair? No, fair is where you ride a merry-go-round and eat cotton candy. We all pick our careers. If you don't like it, then change.

Entering a game competition and winning, isn't a career. That's like if I go to a fair and win a hot-dog eating contest. That's not a career. Come on, man. You're 38 years old. Don't be dumb.
I'm not dumb. There are people making a fortune on You Tube as a career. It's called cashing in on your talent. Not all of us are smart enough to be doctors, engineers, etc.
But not all Youtubers have "talent." Some of them lip-sync to songs, others make clickbait titles like "I almost got ran over by a train!!!" or do dumb challenges like eat cinnamon powder. That's not talent.
My next door neighbor's son is 20-something. He rakes in nearly a million a year drawing comic books. Two doors down, a man and his son are "gamers" racking in six figure incomes - each. Talent or not, without any of them having a college education, they are making a better living than me as a firefighter. More power to them. I admire their abilities.
They sure know how to sell themselves and advertise stuff that captured their audience. Maybe even sell without actually selling. Such as that comic book artist you mentioned. That takes creativity, talent and skill that not everyone has nor is capable of doing.

Somewhat I guess, but for many it will be rags to riches to rags again which is a hard road. Anyway, these are always the exception to the rule.

The average doctor makes almost $300k a year, I don't think they're complaining.

Also, I never saw a broke lawyer.

And with those fools we will remain a prisoner in their pathetic little world of theirs.
I mean, you are making money from them, what more do you really want? I feel like you doubt grasp how economies work.

The usual. Taking what I want. And being damn good at it ;)

Of course not lol
But entertainment sells. Thats why
Its like saying does a business owner deserve more than a doctor. Probably not
But doctors are not suppose to be in it for the money for the most part
