What Is Your Job? Do You Like Your Job?

I'm an ESL teacher in Korea and yeah, I like my job. It's not the best job ever, but I barely feel like I've worked, on some days (not out of laziness or anything; but because the day was over so quickly).
The ONLY thing I'm kinda pissed off at right now is my boss won't be flexible on my hours (1pm to 10pm), and I really have been wanting to return to a boxing gym now that COVID restrictions are easing up but she still keeps f*cking me over with the schedule (I'm teaching the latest classes, so am the last one to leave at 10pm). She knows I've been wanting to get in better shape for a while now, but keeps dismissing it like "there's nothing I can do" but will let her Korean gal pals get whatever BS schedule they want.
I can't tell whether she's being honest and there's truly nothing that can be done about the schedule or she just is *choosing* not to put my break on the last hour so I can leave an hour early and go to the gym before closing time... But I hate the idea of having to choose my job or my fitness.
Besides this bullsh*t with the schedule, and the usual annoyances of teaching young brats, I like my job.
I'm an Audio/Video Integrator. I design and install TV/surround sound systems, multi-zone music systems, networking & WiFi, security camera systems, and "smart home" device integrations. Recently I even added "smart shades" to a couple of rooms.
I really enjoy my job as everything is custom, and I have to use my brain and solve lots of problems and keep track of tons of parts, but when it all comes together, my customers are really happy. The job also evolves rapidly, so the barrier to entry is fairly high, and I have a lot of loyal customers who refer me - about 80% of my business is referrals.
I work for my parents' businesses, doing stuff that doesn't really fit into a job description but stuff that is needed that none of their regular staff can do.
It is good in that I can mostly choose what I do and set my schedule and only answer to my parents. But it has family issues you get working with family.
I considered going to law school last year, which my mom wanted, but I didn't want anything to do with schools during COVID craziness. I may apply for next year. But I am not sure, I like creative work and my mom's job looks anything but creative.
Funeral home owner/operator. The businesses have been in the family for several generations. Had you asked me up to two years ago if I’d ever be in the business, I’d have told you not only no but hell no. But now that I’ve been at it for a year, I can’t see me doing anything else.
What made you change your mind?
To make a long story short, my dad wanted to retire this year, and wanted to keep the business (es) in the family but my older siblings were off on career paths of their own. When I graduated college last year I wanted to pursue law, but I was so burned out on school and wanted to get out into the workforce that I thought I’d take a break and work. Plus it was May last year and we were at the height of lockdowns so finding employment was tough. My dad pitched the idea of me taking over ownership and operation of the business, and I reluctantly agreed. He had me on training wheels (figuratively) for about a year, and threw me into almost every aspect of the business. It grew on me, so here I am.
Awesome!

I am a farmer and I love my freedom I get from open spaces. I hate city life.
City people are a bunch of sissies. They can't handle it when you just want to butcher Chickens and Pigs.
Ooooo that's animal cruelty, I'm calling the cops. Look sissy bitch where do you think your food comes from. From animals
Another one they though a fit when you remove all of your lawn and used it all for a huge freaking and set-up a food selling stand
It's like there is no freedom in the city. You can't do shit there. Except became a sissy bitch along with them.
Nurse (thats what google translate), but social worker fits better, i work in a home for disabled young people preparing them for their first own home.
And yes i do like it, its just shitty pay, even though i get payed slightly more than avarage.
I have two positions
The first one, the one that pays my bills. Im part of the management team for a food production facility. I enjoy it, as far as jobs go.
My other position, I own a media company. We do 3d design, animation and game development. And I like it so much that I wish I made enough money with this to pay all of my bills. But it doesn't.
i'm a part time student of maste in social science and part time project cooderinator working in a governmentally funded project that researches strategies for digitalization and sustainable securing of skilled employees within the automotive industry. it's sort of a mouth full but most people i assume can't really imagine what sort of job "project coordination" is. i sure couldn't before i got into that.
Sheep farmer. Today I caused a huge traffic jam with a tractor. Great fun.
I know just what's that like. Back when I had goats and had to put them on the other field across the road.
Farm life is so much better and more freedom
I'm a writer, and web designer. I love my job for it's not a job but a passion turned into a job. And brings in the moolah, too.

I’m a journalist. I like it but I’m not where I want to be and I’m considering going back to study for a masters.
I'm all for people going back to school! Especially women attaining masters and doctorates. You go girl! =)
@This_is_my_username "Especially for women obtaining masters and doctorate, you go girl"... Seriously? Pile on more student debt for worthless degrees? So many women complain about their debt load, even calling is sexist, but yet they pursue worthless degrees. Does a journalist really need a master's? Come on. Get a clue.
@alyssa11. I have bachelor's and master's from an League school (incidentally IVY is actually "IV" for the Roman numeral 4, meaning Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Princeton). I also have a shit-ton of certificates and qualifications. I will compare brain pans with anyone on GAG.
@alyssa11 👏👏 You master In whatever you please! How is Journaling? Do you enjoy it?
Good for you. I also have a law degree from a Russel group university :) (British version of Ivy League). I’m thinking of getting a masters in journalism, maybe international or comparative! :) @This_is_my_username
I work with vulnerable children and people who have mental health problems.
i'm a studio and tour musician which i normally love but everything's been upside-down this past year so no touring or live performances at all and recording an album has been extremely difficult even with the best people working on it
I'm retraining right now to start work as a counsellor and life coach. Last year changed everything and I'm changing as a result of the events.

My BS is in Communications and Visual Design.
I got an MBA 20 years after that.
My latest was a diploma in Massage Therapy a year after the MBA, 27-28 years ago.
I like all of my professions. I have been doing graphics for 55 years, using my MBA for running both of our businesses and our household finances, and my current part-time profession is Massage Therapy. There have been individual "job positions" which I wasn't really wild about, but I like my professions.
I am a security officer for a local security company. At times it sucks but there some perks like free food or see cool events for free like MMA fights or a comedy/concert show. The worst jobs are the ones where I just stand around at a store or something.
Currently I stack frozen food at an Albertsons branch. No I don't like my job bc whoever orders frozen food loves the freezer to be over stocked. I have no idea how old some of the food is in there. I told them to stop ordering food but they don't listen to the new hire. I'm going to find a new job asap and leave those dumb asses.
I am a college professor. I teach Computer Science. I hope to be back teaching in the fall.

@little_rose How did you make out during the pandemic? Did you learn anything?
I started university in January and so far I've had to basically teach myself everything. It has worked out really well for me since I am used to studying on my own.
Most of my profs were really kind and willing to video call with me when I couldn't understand stuff.

@This_is_my_username Can be, don’t mind those days. It’s the boredom that drives me crazy
Really? Bordem? I would never think that would be boring. I guess all jobs have their boring moments.
@This_is_my_username Oh yeah, lots of downtime. Just like flying - hours of boredom, seconds of chaos
I'm a registered early childhood educator (rece). I like it sometimes, depending on the age group. I like the younger ages better !
Network administrator. Yes, love my job. Two more years and I can retire, which is even better!
Is it anything like this?
www.youtube.com/watch
@Gray-Wisp - LOL. Got through about 25 seconds. Well, not so much like a video game, but yeah, the calls and questions come in all day. They call me the 're-boot' department. A re-start usually fixes whatever problem they're having. 15 servers, 40 workstations, and a dozen printers, two websites. Lots of fun.
And no education! LOL
@Gray-Wisp - My youngest got himself into a university on a math-major, came out of high school with straight-A's and 20 college units. He was able to transfer his major to comp-sci, and sat in classes he needed but couldn't get into, until someone dropped out and he could be registered in. Got a masters degree in four years and got recruited by a tech-giant in silly-cone valley. Now he makes twice what I do. :)
I work in a foundry. Not the nicest job. I’m getting a bit old for this work now. Lol.
