Can you guys give feedback on this situation?

So, my experience working at Chick-fil-A has not been good. The managers have been AWFUL! Today was supposed to be my last day (yes, I put in my two weeks notice). So, I got in a car accident a couple weeks ago, and my car is getting fixed this weekend, so I have to find a ride to everywhere I go. I have two jobs. Here was today’s schedule:
Chick-fil-A: 9:30-3:30
A local shop in my city: 4:00-9:00
So, I had a whole day of working.
My ride bailed on me this morning and I was spending the night with one of my friends which lived 35 minutes away from CFA. I called CFA today and explained the ordeal and she immediately told me to give her my address so she can pick me up. She didn’t ask for my address, she was demanding my friend’s address so someone could pick me up. I explained how I was at a friend’s house and I didn’t know his address at the moment and how my friend’s house is around 35 minutes away. On top of that, I had to be at my other job at 4:00, and I did not want a random CFA manager to have to take me to the other job. I explained all of this and she pretty much called me a liar. She didn’t think I actually had another job (even though I said it in the interview). To end the phone call, I was in the middle of a sentence, and she hung up on me.
I’m angry. I could have called an Uber, but it was my last day and they have several different employees. I would have gone in a heartbeat had the management been better, but they won’t even let you have a water when working in the heat for six hours. Was I wrong?
Should I feel bad about this?

Well, feel how you want, its your life... But no, you don't control life, none of us do, so don't feel bad or guilty or whatever for a situation you can't control. Most businesses have horrible management, either in attitude or competence... You're not alone in your experiences. Also, never stay at a job you hate or are treated wrong unless you absolutely have no other choice. Do what you enjoy, if that's massage therapy, gear up for that and do what you have to in order to get there. I currently am contracted for the next five months for a Quality Engineer position, and I HATE quality with a passion - we never have the authority we need to get things solved and up and running... I'm an R&D (Research and Development) guy, but that type of position requires a bit more experience than what I currently have, so I have to wait and gain more, and I have bills to pay, so I took a job that I really don't want but need at the moment. So I won't judge you for leaving if you have that horrible manager and something else set up, and I won't judge you for getting another job at the same time nor for looking for something better. Most managers that I've met who stay at the company they started at either love their job and are decent people or are simply there because they couldn't get another/better job somewhere else and stuck around long enough for the company powers that be to notice their "loyalty" and promoted their incompetent and unprofessional ass to leadership role they clearly shouldn't have. It's only natural, and logical, to seek to improve your lot in life, I'm seeking better all the time and work towards that end, so no, you should not feel bad for this situation, you didn't cause it, you don't control it, you notified your manager, and you were honest, I'd hire you if I was looking for someone with whatever skills you had.

Just an observation, you need to change how you meet people/make friends, so you can make friends who are more reliable and date people who are not as messed up. I base this on the posts I've read from you over time.

Just an observation, mind your own business! She asked, I answered. I've been talking to her for a good while now and like I said, I based my observation on my experience with her. I stated it as an observation, not an absolute. You would do well to remember that. She has had problems with recent relationships, consistent problems that imply that something is off with how she goes about it. I am a mechanical engineer, meaning I solve other peoples problems for them for a living, I specialize in mechanics, but I that is not the total of my skills. Most people pay me for my advice. What is you skill set? What is your experience with her? I said she needed to change how she meets people and makes friends because she just said the one just bailed on her on her when she needed them after said friend already agreed to do it, her love that she has posted on here has not been good, I'm giving her advise no one wants to her because it might hurt her, I'm known for being brutally honest and getting results. I'm doing for her what I wish some one had done for me when I was younger and in similar circumstances. You do not know me, so who are you to make observations about me? I've been conversing with her for more than long enough to pick up on certain things that may be the cause of her problems, as per my training. What is your interaction with me?

First of all, all I was saying is that people dont like being told what to do and was giving you feedback so that maybe you would avoid using that word in the future when giving feedback or advice to people. (If you want them to be receptive to it). Second, regarding my skill set, although I don't understand how it applies here, I am a software developer and CTO of 4 small businesses.

Lastly, I am not going to open the can of worms re: why you would get so defensive about this... Maybe its because I said what you NEED to do, as a joke, that inspired such a response but that just proves the point... twice.

Third, you didn't answer my question as to what your interactions (as in your experience) with me was. Fourth, my skill set is to give credibility to my claims and help explain how it is that I analyze. Fifth, NEVER call someone a killer unless you are prepared for a REAL negative reaction. Sixth, your first response to me already showed you to be a hypocrite. Seventh, if you read and interacted Hannah's other posts, you would see that see that whatever she's been doing up until this moment has clearly not worked. You may be a software developer, but you clearly never learned logic. Yes, I have software under my belt too. Eighth, you never said "Need" you said "should", you misquoted yourself. Ninth, why single me out? You have something against people giving real advice? Tenth, you clearly didn't read my last response because I said, "... do you realize how many restaurant managers and owners i've sworn at and gave the middle finger to. I've had to remind a ton of them at various restaurants i don't work for them i was just there to pick up the food from their shitty restaurants. it got so bad other drivers told each other to make a black list of restaurants they refuse to pick up from. which is what i had to do as well. and i constantly thought to myself if these managers treat the drivers of other companies this way god only knows how they treat their employees and made me realize i would never in a million years work for most of the restaurants i pick food up from. doing my line of work has been a real eye opening experience. instead of them treating drivers from other companies and their own employees like actual human beings they treat them like complete shit. they get a little bit of power and they act like gods letting that little bit of power go to their heads. my famous line to these jerkoffs is I don't work for you and that's when the yelling starts and when the yelling starts the swearing starts between me and them. in a way doing my line of work feels good because i can swear my head off all i want to these prick bastards and i don't have to worry about getting fired by these jerkoffs. and my supervisors at my jobs side with me when i explain to them the situation. and when other employees call center employees at my job cough up an attitude i tell them to fuck off and connect me to a manager. and the managers side with me and get the call center assholes in trouble and they let the business know how they fucked up.
my job sucks the pay is lousy the restaurant managers and owners are bastards to deal with the traffic is horrendous especially when other drivers can't drive for shit. but i get to make my own hours and when i get pissed off enough i say i'm done and i turn my app off and call it a day. i don't need permission to dress a certain way or permission to take time off to go on vacation or a doctors appointment or whatever. i do it as i please

I wouldn’t sweat it , shit happens , the fact that you gave them 2 weeks notice is just a courtesy , they are lucky you gave them that , considering you hated that job , you should of just gave them 1 week notice or told them after you got into you accident that this was going to be your last day since you lost your transportation, but again don’t sweat it , By law they can not bash you to another employer if you put them down for a reference, The way they acted toward you was pathetic ,, all that matters is you gave them notice period , is all that matters , considering you didn’t just walk out , If you go to another job interview and the new employer asks you questions about CFA , and asks did you give them notice? Just say Yes you did , you don’t need to explain why you didn’t show up for the last day , a new employer doesn’t care about how many days you gave them all they care about was if you gave notice period and not just walked out. So again don’t sweat CFA. Some people take their job positions way to serious and act like they have some power trip over people , it’s just a fucking job and we are all just numbers , CFA didn’t shut down operations just because you didn’t show up for the last day , so whoever your supervisor was , let them talk shit about you , it means nothing , all it means is how pathetic they are. They didn’t stop making crack chicken just cuz you didn’t show up for the last day lol

The thing you did wrong was not look for solutions or answers. You spent too much time giving excuses. You could've looked up the address on your phone, or met the driver at a rendezvous point nearby within walking distance, or something. You also said you didn't "want" to deal with them for your second job. Given the lack to find alternative solutions to the problem, or just take the Uber for one day only, I can see why they thought you were lying or giving excuses. It was rude and unprofessional for them to hang up on you like that, but I don't exactly expect professionalism from fast food employees.

You also seemed to indirectly blame them for not being sensitive to your own problems, which nobody really owes you an explanation for. In most jobs I've worked, giving them excuses would be enough to fire you right away. As harsh as it is, employers don't care about your personal problems. You find a way to figure them out (and if you're a guy, never complain about them either).

You aren't 100% wrong here, but the story does make you come off lazy and entitled. The manager was wrong for hanging up on you mid sentence, if that happened. Just focus on your second job and leave it in the past. There's no point dwelling on negativity.

We have a CFA less than a mile from our house, and while I can't speak about other locations, there are order takers standing outside the building all day, the store does provide two shaded booths with chairs and a cooler of water or other beverage for them. With the lines of cars usually there, though, they might not have much of a chance to stop for a break. We have gone there a few times and the service was always professional and we have never seen any employee vs. management kerfuffles. that said - - - - -

CFA is the number one chicken seller, AND the average CFA unit does more business in SIX days than the average McD does in SEVEN. It cannot be doing that well if the people running the shops are complete oafs: the big suits at HQ can't have franchisees that create waves in the fast food ocean or their corporate ship would sink like the Titanic! Each store is managed by a franchisee and that person (s) owns the franchise. Most of them are doing well, but like in so many other areas of life, there is going to be a bad apple or two in the bushel.

You might consider a direct appeal to the HQ and file a complaint against the franchisee running that shop. If your treatment seemed bad enough, you might consider filing a grievance with your state's Labor Department. You would need a bunch of evidence in your favor, though, otherwise this will only be a "he-said, she-said" type of situation, which is hard to prove either way. Keep as many extemporaneous notes as you can. Jot down what was said, who witnessed the discussion/exchange/, and any pertinent outcome. If needed, most states have some sort of pro bono or reduced rate legal advising service available to those needing it. Good Luck.

You shouldn’t feel bad. Stuff happens in life and you can’t be prepared for all of it. That manager driving you to work and to your other job is a bit of a pain but since you work there it shouldn’t have been too much trouble. (Although, was it really your manager that would have drove you? 😐)
That was very bitter of them to hang up the phone mid-sentence on you, and you can forget about them - especially since it’s your last day. It was a jerk-wad fast food restaurant manager who left - don’t let their crap get to you. They hung up on you, and you can forget about it. (Sidenote: some fast food restaurant managers are probably okay people, but most of them have gotta be dicks. Just my opinion 🤷‍♂️ buuuuut…)
Move on, and good luck if you plan on getting another second job. 👍

I hear everything you're saying because I have been there done that and sometimes I still do that I hate depending on anybody for anything I hate asking anybody for anything and I very rarely do I mean maybe once twice every 2 to 3 years if I absolutely have to because I will figure it out myself I will do it my own way I don't want to ask anybody but on the other hand every single day I'm doing something for somebody to help them have an easier day at better day hard because they can't afford it.
It really doesn't matter if you're wrong or right or what people think as long as you know the truth it's the same time this was just a moment in time it will pass you got to let it go remember you have a goal and that goal is to become independent. I'm sure your day is going pretty good otherwise it just seems like it was a buildup that day next time give me a call I'll come and get you and give you a ride take whoever you have to go

Honestly I would see it as like getting rid of an annoying scab. Yeah it sounds like there was a miscommunication there. Your a college level woman. Honestly just let it go and forget about it. When it is your last day, the average employer couldn't care less. They made the conscious choice to not believe you, therefore that is THEIR problem. Not to mention it takes a lot of nerve of them to get pissed at you on your LAST day for not making it in. However at the same time, you were still a member of the team until 3:00, and TECHNICALLY you still had a responsibility. And the right thing to have done was to give them directions the best that you could so they could get you. In a way, what happened can give them ammo to bad-talk you to a potential future employer.

Guess you could have dropped her a pin to prove location but whatever, im sure she moved on right after hanging up and think you should do the same... Nothin to feel bad about, her issue if she doesn't believe you... Sounds like a manager in dire need to training. I'm guessing that branch has high staff turnover and management can't work out why. I've been in jobs like that. I think at some point everyone is in that situation.

Don't worry about it, it's all forgotten in future. You did what you were supposed to do you kept them informed and that's all you can do. Let them get worked up about it, it's not your problem. If managers actually had good relationships with their employees they wouldn't assume anything but as we all know some get offended we are leaving because they take it personally.

When you are angry another might play on your emotions by teasing you with an idea that would simply have you look bad. Always give yourself time to think about something and calm down before you decide.
