Here in Germany getting vaccinated is still on a voluntary base but honestly indirectly there is a pressure to be vac. and like it's getting worse and uggh whatever I did get over with that but..
.. back to the question: My mother for example works in a old people's home and like her employer told her she doesn't have to but if she doesn't, she won't be able to work... so she had to from the get go
In my office, I don't need to but still today my employer went around checking on everyone.. so that's that

Well now it's official, we can't be in the office if we aren't vaccinated, recovered or tested daily... or anywhere else in the state that I'm living in without those 3, some places even demand now that you're either vaccinated or recovered ... so that's going to be fun

I live in California…. If you’re reading this and from the US, it’s self explanatory…
Anyway, I work as a caregiver in homes for elderly. Stated in California’s laws that were passed, All healthcare workers must be vaccinated.
With that being said, I fall under the category of Healthcare workers. I refused the vaccine for my personal beliefs.
Luckily, I work for a small business. I had a conversation with my manager about the vaccine and prior Flu vaccinations. My manager said that he understands my concerns and will allow me to keep working as long as I take weekly Covid tests (PCR - no cost to patient). Of course, in the midst of the pandemic, masks are required. I told my manager that I have not gotten the vaccine, and have not gotten the FLU vaccine since I was 15 and understood that I could refuse it if I wanted to.
With further explanation, I started this job from the beginning of 2021, with only one steady client due to safety. I told my manager that I don’t go out in public, If I do, I wear a mask to protect my only client since they are high risk with multiple heath conditions. I also do online college, so there is a low risk factor of me catching Covid since I am rarely in public.
I'm all for it - not compulsory but required for any public places. Even the supermarkets should limit unvaccinated from shopping except for 1h oer day or per week
It was at one point, but the decision was overturned. Apparently you can't force healthcare workers to be vaccinated (at least at my facility). Originally anyone that didn't get it by 10/31 was going to be terminated-
However, so many employees refused it, they were going to be fired... fine right? Not in a hospital. And even if they got temp staff, it wouldn't be economical, as it costs more to pay contracted workers than regular staff. Plus it would take a while to replace those that got fired, particularly nurses.
So long story short, now vaccination is "highly recommended," but not required for employees. Anyone that is not vaccinated has to wear an N95 or KN95 mask at all times. Which serves NO PURPOSE because we work in a freaking hospital that makes all employees, vaccinated or not, wear a mask at all times.
So is vaccination necessary? No comment. I'm over this covid crisis.
Our politicians did speculate with 100% mandate for all jobs, but so far it's not official. Since I work from home anyway, it makes little sense to demand vaccines. Those who work in the office are still on mandatory weekly tests I think. But it's going to be really tough. Several countries are bracing for a final confrontation. Is the government going to back down, or 20-40% of people surrender? Honestly if the governments didn't push so hard I would probably be vaccinated by now. But now it is increasingly more important to hold the line politically, than to tweak my chances of medical complications slightly.
Yes for certain roles even 20 years ago there was a requirement to be vaccinated.
20 years ago it was in their contracts of employment that it was their responsibility to keep up to date with vaccinations.
When I was in Air Force, it was mandatory for certain roles such as emergency response roles to keep fully vaccinated, dental inspections, passports held by command, etc.
Our federal government in the US has attempted to force a vaccine mandate on businesses with at least 100 employees through OSHA, but they have no legal grounds to do so, and have issued a suspension on the order, pending an onslaught of lawsuits that were filed almost immediately and are still piling up.
My place of work does not have a vaccine policy of any kind in place even though probably ~90% or more have received both doses, and there's a few people at the top who I think would try to force a mandate if they could get away with it.
Not yet. I literally just got tested again this Monday. They have us take tests like every month, where they jam that f*cking cotton swab so far into your nose, you literally choke. I'm really hoping Korea doesn't go that far, because it's utter bullsh*t they're going to try to tell you you need ot put that poison in your body in order to have a job. At least the US got a small victory this week, by the Biden mandates being released, though that won't stop individual companies from mandating it (and trying to sue them may not be worth the time and effort for most).
Yes. I signed up to be a traveling ICU nurse around the US. I’m assigned to short staffed hospitals that have full ICU units with COVID patients, so I’m around the virus and people dying from it at least 60-70 hours a week. It would be stupid of me not to get it willingly, and stupid of my employer not to require it as it’s important for them to keep all of us healthy so they don’t lose even more staff.
I can’t speak to Germany, but in the US, I think it’s really simple. We should allow the free market to work, meaning employers have every right to mandate vaccines if they choose, because it affects their business, just like employees have every right to quit and find a job elsewhere if they disagree with that employer. Freedom of choice is freedom of choice on both sides.
The infection numbers in Germany are getting out of control! The experts already warned, we could lose another 100k people. So it’s pretty clear at this point, the previous 3G, 2G… concepts (largely) failed. I have zero tolerance for the nonsense of the Querschwurbler movements. 😤
It's a ruling here. 3G stands for 3 German words beginning with G and means= you either have to be vaccinated, tested or recovered. And 2G is either vaccinated or recovered. So with the 2G ruling, you can only go to a cafe when you're vaccinated or recovered
@Rachelspiks It's not a technology here, but a pandemic containment model: 3G is "Geimpft, Genesen, Getestet"; 2G is "Geimpft, Genesen". The strictest mode would be 2G+, which means access only for vaccinated and recovered people + they also need a test. "Querschwurbler" is a word I made up on the spot as an amalgam of the "Querdenker" movement (rabid protesters) + "Schwurbler" (conspiracy lunatics). :-)
Yes, I work in healthcare and my employer requires everyone be vaccinated, which I think is the right thing to do. People who choose to not be vaccinated are not just putting their own safety at risk. It is literally a matter of life and death for many.
I see it kind of like I see public smoking. Many smokers I've known argue that they have a right to smoke. And yes, they do, but not in public where their choices put others at risk. Your right to choose is trumped by the rights of others to live.
They brought it up, but after dumbass biden’s mandate was in fact deemed unconstitutional the courts put a freeze on the mandate. So now companies that were going to force their employees to get it are now back to just doing what they been doing the whole pandemic
If I get the job I want, there's no way to tell if I am because I will be working from home. The reason I am looking for this job is because I can't be sure that people I may work with if I didn't work from home are vaccinated. I got the vaccination and it didn't take (vaccines have about a 25% rate of actually taking with me), so I am technically unvaccinated. Therefore an asymptomatic carrier can infect me and kill me. I won't survive COVID-19, I don't have the immune system to fight off something as minor as shingles (as a 30 year old) or pneumonia (honestly not that bad of an illness to get overall).
It will soon. Country is moving into a new system so we can open up more. Businesses can choose to require vaccination for entry but if they do then all their staff also have to be vaccinated. If you don't require it you're limited on capacity and still have to follow social distancing rules.
Yes, the company I worked for is requiring employees to be vaccinated. Yes, it is necessary. We get people from all over the world and have people constantly passing through. We need to prevent the spread of disease. We've had 5 employees die of covid over the last year.
The place at work at made it a requirement. Doesn't really bother me though, just like they have the right to force their employees to vaxed, these employees have the right to leave and find another job
It makes no nemeses to me why it is even an issue, the vaccine as killed how many? a thousand perhaps? the virus has killed several million and counting. The odds are heavily stacked against those who aren't vaccinated!

Old job didn’t, and likely won’t. Boss never followed the long-standing rules anyway. And the main unions in the industry have made it clear they won’t allow it so it definitely won’t come from outside pressure

Yes, I work for an airline, and it is mandatory that I be vaccinated before Dec. 08 . I am fully vaccinated, plus a booster, due to underlying health conditions.
