This is a difficult question to answer. Can you possibly be having twins when you recieved a heartbeat of 150 on the left side, and 160 on the right?

This stems from my other questions that I've asked about parenting and the excitement of having a child.

The story follows...
I went to a heartbeat check for the baby and a nurse was there, which wasn't are usually nurse but that was fine.
Anyways, my wife has said she been feeling two kicks at different times in the womb but the doctors has been firmly telling us that it's only one baby. My wife has been very down about the news mainly because they refuse to do another ultrasound to identify if what she is feeling is true or not.
The nurse we had wasn't our original nurse but she did a check and did a heartbeat check on the left side and it was 150, then move on the right side and it was 160.
I know without tech or being that this is consider "you need another ultrasound to be able to tell" but I just want to hear from anyone who might have experience this.
Lastly the doctor said they the heartbeat monitor doesn't directly get place on the heart of the baby, it only picks up echo of the sounds of the heartbeat. I would love twins and I have some more months of waiting so I would love to hear from you all first. Thank you.
