Applying for a math tutoring job and is it a good idea to share this personal information about me to hiring manager?

I'm applying for a job as a math tutor/coach for a center that focuses on kids with learning disabilities and they mentioned one specific focus is kids with ADHD. I have previous tutoring experience and already have a BS in math but would it be a bad idea to share in my interview that I also am diagnosed as ADHD (specifically more attention related than hyperactivity) making me more relatable with the center and kids or would that be shooting myself in the foot and making myself look weaker? Also if I do mention that not sure if it is a good idea to go a step further or not and mention how I deal with it and that I am on medication.

That's very admirable. I don't think mentioning your diagnosis would hurt you in the interview. Honestly, if I were the hiring manager, I would hire you right away given that you can connect with the children in a way that other tutors probably can't. It would make teaching and learning much easier.

My psychologist actually disclosed that she had adhd when we first started working together so I think you should go for it.

Thanks yeah I figured it would be beneficial but just wanted to be sure. Already wanted to mention it in our emails after she was broadly explaining the company and my potential job and scheduling a phone interview but I held off and will just wait until we speak over the phone. Thanks.

I would not mention it, employers do not care about helping you find work when you have obstacles, they care about your ability to do the job.
