
Is it really possible to score over 100% in a course?


In some instances yeah. I got 105% in a class, I knew someone who had like 130% because she got 100 on everything and the professor had a policy where they dropped your lowest test and she took basically an extra test. Because most people are like “oh, all my test scores are like 80-95%, so screw the final!” and take a zero for that final test and not affect their grade if they’re happy with it
It is possible through so called "extra credit." This credit could be received though additional assignments or performing some other sort of academic work. Extra credit allows an instructor to give students the option to make up for poor performance in other assignments but does not penalize students who choose not to complete the optional extra credit assignment.
