Better hours and pay and work/life balance would be huge factors for me. Also, as I get older I would like to decrease physical demand on my body and focus more on work that requires mental intellect over strength. I have plenty of energy and strength now which is why I'm in such a rush to get into law enforcement. I want to get in while I'm relatively young and have a few good years to put into patrol and have enough time to try out for more specialized roles in law enforcement. As I get to my mid 30s I would like to make Sergeant so I can still be in the field but have some desk work. As I reach my 40s, I would want to make Lieutenant so I can have less physical stress on my body, enough power to help my officers and increased pay to assist as I get closer to retirement. I turn 29 in late May. My ideal timeline would be to graduate police academy around 31-32, do a few years in patrol and make SWAT or K9. Around 36-37 I would like to make Sergeant and/or become a detective. Around 42-45 I'd like to make lieutenant but could be happy as a Sergeant if my pay increases enough. I'd like to serve around 20 years in law enforcement at a minimum. Towards the end of my career I'd like to teach at the police academy.
I stayed at one job to long and ended up board and angry. I was considered Un-promotable but such a asset that I couldn’t be moved, likewise a new supervisor and new manager denied my vacation because they were unable to function without me for a entire week. HR supported this. Since I have just been job hopping. increased my salary and work less than that time period in my life.
So when the company I work for shows little to no respect for me, my personal time, the Employees around me, or individual boundaries, I’m gone as soon as I find a new job that pays better.
Wanting to progress within my role/industry and I wasn’t getting that from the firm I was working with or it was going to take to long to get there with them. Wanting more money and the firm I was with didn’t believe I deserved one as yet or didn’t offer me what I felt I was with or deserved. Wanting a career change/industry change out of what I’ve been working within say from banking to something I’m more passionate about. If I’ve moved suburbs and lived to far away travel wise and wanted to work closer to home. If I no longer enjoyed the energy or environment of the people I worked with and wanted a fresh change with fresh people, faces etc.
I've searched for a new job for the following reasons:
- more engaging work
- better pay
- better benefits
- better hours
- closer location to home
- bored at my current job
- lack of advancement opportunity
But most of my jobs I've left because I've been unhappy at them. Only once due to the work - every other time has been because of the management or business culture.

I left a place because their ethics were sooooo bad it was intolerable (at least to me). The silver lining was that I was hired by another company for more than double the salary and I would occasionally deal with my old superiors from the precious company. They treadded lightly when I was around.
I can relate to this feeling as I actually do want to leave my job and it’s not because I am unhappy I just need more working hours and a job where it’s stressfree at the moment my job is nothing more then just a weekend job with her low pay and long hours it’s also because I like someone there and I feel like distancing from him will help me better
Making money is better than not making money. But working at a dead-end job like fast-food, I'm not really gaining any knowledge or experience in a field I'm passionate about. If I were to be a paid intern for, like, a social work agency, I'd actually dip my toes into something personally impassioning.
My priorities in finding a job as following:
1- high salary
2- low workload (It is normal to have a lot of work a few months a year. But I do not like a company that always has a high workload)
If these two items are met, I’ll satisfied even it’s far from my home, unhappy work place …..
Work environment is a big one. You could live what your doing but if the environment is toxic it's hard to maintain the happiness. If it becomes apparent that everywhere you go is toxic then it's time to consider if you really love that job.
Why I looked for new jobs in the past?
Long hours,
crappy pay,
stupid managers,
unreasonable demands,

Several years ago, I left a well-paying job that I really liked... because I didn't like the area the job was in, where I had to live, so I moved to an area that I wanted to be in, and changed careers.
I left due to stress, a mandated shift change to nightshift, and a change in pay
Entering a phd program would definitely require that I leave my current job. As would having to move.
If I did not get enough work or hours to make a decent living.
Nothing, no where will hire me anyway so might as well just save my limited time on looking
Low pay and not enough time to myself. Low pay is everywhere though.
