people get paid for say 8 hours work, with lunch etc.

That does not include chatting to mate on mobile, texting, buying stuff off Amazon etc.

People tend to forget that they are paid to make the company more profitable, to ensure they have job security, not to sit on WhatsApp for 5 hours.

Depends on the employer. But it also depends on the employee. Some employees act as if a employer should expect less of them. Even if it means the employer expects way less of them then every other employee.
